Weebles are a line of children's toys originating in Hasbro's Playskool division. Shaped like eggs with a weight at the fat, or bottom end. They wobble when pushed, but never fall completely over, hence the name. Some Weebles were designed to look like humans; newer ones (made in 2004 and later) look more like anthropomorphic animals.

The popular catchphrase, "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down", was used in advertising during their rise in popularity in the 1970s.

A wide range of accessories were available for the Weebles including vehicles, buildings and furniture.

Weeble is also a word used to denote frustration, usually at amazing stupidity. “I stuck the disk in upside down.” “Weeble....”.

Trivia

  • There is a set of 22 sculptures on Little Haven beach in South Shields nicknamed the Weebles because of their shape.[1]
  • Weeble is sometimes used as a derogatory nickname for the Ole Miss athletic teams.
