Redirect

I suggest that this article just be redirected to Amy Meredith. Anyone agree? たかはり 06:33, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That would seem to be appropriate by WP standards. --Nat Gertler (talk) 07:08, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. There is information on this page that is not found on the Amy Meredith page. Sharkywoo (talk) 01:52, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If it's vital info, then add it to the A.M. page. There is no claim here for his notability outside of A.M., and as per the guidelines at WP:NMUSIC "members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band". Please stop "restoring" the page against consensus; if you can achieve consensus, that's another matter, but do that -before- restoring. -Nat Gertler (talk) 02:58, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I also disagree. From what I can see, Lo Russo has demonstrated individual notability and will continue to in the future. Just one example is his collaboration with Brian McFadden on his recent album Wall of Sounds. This is not linked in any way to Amy Meredith. [[Just Alli x (talk) 10:05, 2 May 2011 (UTC)]][reply]

Googling "Brian McFadden" "Lo Russo" I get no gnews hits, and no general Google hits that come from significant reliable sources - mostly, it's music databases of various sorts that while serving to confirm that such a collaboration exists, do not serve to denote notability in the Wikipedia sense. --Nat Gertler (talk) 13:37, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
McFadden and Lo Russo are both notable Australian artists (well, technically McFadden is Irish, based in Australia). Lo Russo often appears independantly of his band on TV and in the media over here. He is known as a separate entity from the band he fronts. Also, the suggestion for redirection was made whe there was very little information on the page, and it has since been filled out considerably. Sharkywoo (talk) 14:10, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to make that case, you should gather reliably sourced references showing that Lo Russo's significant, and present them here; the article as it was pinned his notability to the band. --Nat Gertler (talk) 23:44, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have never seen Christian Lo Russo mentioned in any media - be it television, print or digital - where they do not introduce him as being the lead singer of Amy Meredith. This is what he is known for 219.90.223.131 (talk) 09:51, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I will agree that Lo Russo has always been introduced as the lead singer of Amy Meredith, but this is for the sole purpose that this is what he is MOST well known for. He could hardly be introduced as Christian Lo Russo who collaborated with Brian McFadden. Although singing in Amy Meredith is what Christian is most well known for, it is not the only thing that he has done with his career. Therefore I think it suiting to acknowledge his other contributions. (Just Alli x (talk) 11:48, 3 May 2011 (UTC))[reply]

The standard for having an article is not what he has done, but what he's notable for. That doesn't mean that other things he's done cannot be mentioned on Wikipedia, but that it should be mentioned in a Lo Rosso section of the Amy Meredith article (and the Lo Rosso section there should be briefer than the full article that was here.)-- Nat Gertler (talk) 13:32, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Continuing in this vein, should the article for drummer Kosta Throdesis also be redirected? 203.219.165.212 (talk) 00:37, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Using these points, the page for Benji Madden should be redirected to Good Charlotte, as there is nothing on his page that isnt on, or cant be included on, the band page. The three members of New Zealand band Evermore, each have their own page, and these pages have been allowed to stay, and yet all three have far less information or points of interest on them.Sharkywoo (talk) 08:02, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that those articles should be redirected, the proper place to raise the issue is on the talk pages for those articles. If you think the WP:NMUSIC guidelines should be rethought, then that is best discussed on the talk page for that guideline. --Nat Gertler (talk) 15:58, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, I dont think they should be redirected. I'm using them as examples of why this one should not be redirected.Sharkywoo (talk) 00:33, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Again, if you think the WP:NMUSIC guidelines should be rethought, then that is best discussed on the talk page for that guideline. --Nat Gertler (talk) 00:39, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sharky - I fail to see how the presence of other bad examples justifies the presence of this one —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.148.117.85 (talk) 05:35, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My point is, I dont think this IS a bad example. It's not very consistent if this one is redirected, and others are not.120.19.94.156 (talk) 12:42, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
We shouldn't avoid fixing things just because we're not fixing everything on Wikipedia simultaneously. There are plenty of other members of various bands whose names are redirected to their band, so "consistency" will not be achieved by undoing this one - but the guideline sets the goal. --Nat Gertler (talk) 15:37, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Attempt at restoration

The recently-expanded version of the article depends solely on La Russo's own self-published sources (Twitter, Instagram) for claims about his involvement in various projects outside of the band. First party sources do not connote notability, so I am restoring the redirect per the discussion above. --Nat Gertler (talk) 13:24, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So if I replace those first party references with those from third party publications (although, there are some third party references in there), then the page can be restored? Sharkywoo (talk) 06:16, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I recommend you raise the indicators of notability her on the talk page and reach consensus about it, rather than just restoring it. And remember, we need not just references that show he did other things, but that he got significant attention for things he did beyond the band. --Nat Gertler (talk) 06:41, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Challenge accepted ;) Sharkywoo (talk) 07:15, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Permission to reinstate page now that Lo Russo is being talked about for his work with 5 Seconds of Summer? http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/music/sia-and-daniel-johns-leading-australians-writing-hit-songs-for-others/story-e6frfn09-1226962415948, https://uk.celebrity.yahoo.com/news/5-seconds-summer-stick-best-self-titled-debut-120300201.html, http://www.myamn.com.au/index.php/artists/item/1292-5-seconds-of-summer-taking-on-the-world Sharkywoo (talk) 05:19, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I hardly think that a few brief mentions in the "celebrity" sections count as anything worthy of note. Christian Lo Russo and Joel Chapman are still tied to Amy Meredith. Considering you never reached a consensus (as directed) I suggest you reinstate the redirect.
