Ida Stewart (13 November 1896 — 12 November 2010) was a Jamaican supercentenarian who until 2014 was the oldest Jamaican person ever. She is currently in pending case.[1]
Biography
She was born on November 5, 1896, as the one document which could verify that was unwittingly destroyed by an overzealous relative who was house cleaning.[citation needed] In the beginning it was thought that she was born in 1886.[3] She had one daughter who born in 1922. She daugther was called a Edna and died in 2008. In 2009, her eyes were a practically closed, as if the lids were too heavy for her to support, and groaning every now and then from the pain in her limbs.[3] Stewart had outlived just about everyone she knew, including her 12 siblings, her husband Leonard, and even her daughter who passed away in November 2008 at the age of 86.[2][4]
Since 2010 she is in pending case, and there are states that she died at the age of 113 years.[1] Ida Stewart died on 12 November 2010, a day shy of her 114th birthday. But despite Stewart's insistence that she would soon depart this world, her great granddaughter Codner said they were not convinced as the elderly woman was still her usual chirpy self until two days before she died. One day before his death, she fell gravely ill and she was taken to the hospital. She was buried on 28 November 2010.[2]
