Dragon Ball Xenoverse (officially abbreviated as Dragon Ball XV) is an upcoming video game based on the Dragon Ball|Dragon Ball media franchise. It will be released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. Players can create characters from multiple races. They are Saiyans, Namekians, Aliens, Majins, Mutants, and Androids. Xenoverse will also be the first Dragon Ball game released on some History of video game consoles (eighth generation)|eighth generation consoles as well as Personal computer|PC.

Gameplay

Battles are set in full 3D destructible environments. Fighters can traverse the levels free-roaming in very large spaces and can be fighting on a platform, go in the air, and fight underwater. They run when on the ground, and swim while underwater. Xenoverse has dialogue while fights go on, and fighters show facial expressions when they strike an opponent or take damage. The players have some freedom to explore the planet Earth as it exists in the Dragon Ball universe along with a handful of other locations, including a mysterious new city, now revealed as Toki Toki City, which is the point of origin for the game's new character.

The game's new character is confirmed to be a player created character. With the character customization, players will now be able to customize their character's race, gender, head, build, voice, and clothing. You can also change the pitch and add voice effects to the character's voice. Voice effects include flange, harmonizer, echo, and tremolo. These effects can be tweaked to the player's liking and more than one can be applied to the voice. Player's custom characters for the Story Mode can be five or more race types: Saiyan, Earthling, Majin, Namekian, Mutant, and Android. Players will be able to visit the futuristic Tokitoki City, meet up with other players and take on cooperative, time-traveling missions.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Dragon Ball: Xenoverse also include unique gameplay features proper to this generation of consoles such as improved graphics. Players can also become apprentices of the original Dragon Ball anime characters to equip over 200 special moves and 450 costume items. The game also makes use of skills similar to the Budokai series. Players also have the option of the Ki Charge Ability, allowing for an extra Super slot.

Split-screen multiplayer (Local Co-op) is also featured for the game not World Tournament Stage.

Plot

Unlike the previous games of the series that usually follow the original Dragon Ball canon, "Xenoverse" will feature an entire new story, including a player created character not seen anywhere else in the franchise. The 2014 V-Jump #7, which announces the game, draws attention to a mysterious figure watching the first battle between Goku and Vegeta from the shadows. With red hair, a scouter, and the Capsule Corporation logo on his sleeve, this character's identity was not clear. However after some time it was revealed that this mysterious warrior is in fact a created character thus confirming character creation for Dragonball Xenoverse. Another returning character is Time Patrol Trunks from Dragon Ball Online, who makes a full playable appearance. Two new areas are also showcased: a completely new Hyperbolic Time Chamber like area named the Time Storage Vault, and the other being a high-tech city with what appears to be a Time Machine landed on it. The story is revealed to be about mysterious forces manipulating history, with the player being tasked with restoring the timeline. The story takes place from the Saiyan saga to the Battle of Gods saga and GT Saga.

Dragon Ball: Xenoverse, shortened as Dragon Ball XV, is the 15th Dragon Ball fighting game released on home consoles since Dimps' first Dragon Ball Z: Budokai game, and the first fighting game developed by Dimps to feature full of 3D battles similar to the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi (series)|Budokai Tenkaichi video game series. It was originally known as Dragon Ball New Project, until the actual title was revealed on June 10, 2014.

Promotion

Preorders for European release of the game on any console comes with a Shenron Black Metalcase, Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta as a Playable Character and 2 exclusive Gold & Crystal versions of Freeza Soldier’s Battle Suites to customize the players’ Avatars. Along with that, they have announced a Dragon Ball Xenoverse Collector’s Edition, called the Trunks Travel Edition, which will include the game itself and a 25 centimeter figurine of Trunks.
