Patrick Bashford (born 1929[1] ) is a Polish-born professor of classical guitar at the Royal College of Music[1] , Vogue model, and familiar face of the 50s & 60s[2] .

Early Life

John Patrick Bashford was born near Katowice, Poland[2] . Both his parents, Marisa was Polish and Roderick was British[2] . They worked for British Consular Service in Germany until the Second World War, when he was transferred to Sweden[3]

Patrick was educated at St Paul’s, southwest London, and then at the Guildhall School of Music[4]

Career

It is said that his pioneering work helped turned male modelling into a respectable profession[4]

As a model he was noted for his amber eyes and athlete’s carriage. He worked as a model for over thirty years.[3]

In later life he became a classical guitarist. It is said that his love of the guitar came from his Polish nanny singing him lullabies[4]

.

Family

His wife was Ana Raquel Satre who is a operatic soprano. They had one child[5] .

His Uncle was Sir Henry Bashford honorary Physician to King George VI[3] .
