Tanuku

Tanuku is a big town in the West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, a large and wealthy state in southern India. Also known as Taraka Pura, the name came from Tarakasena, who ruled Tanuku and the surrounding areas.

Tanuku is situated at a distance of 60 km from Narsapur, 73 km from Eluru, 40 km from Bhimavaram, and 18 km from Tadepalligudem. The town is accessible by train and bus and there are frequent buses from Narsapur, Palakollu, Tadepalligudem and Eluru. Private transport is also available from Palakollu and Eluru.

Tanuku is the hometown of Dr. Mullapudi Harishchandra Prasad, a doyen of Andhra Pradesh industry. Andhra Sugars is situated in Tanuku. Dr. Prasad lives in a zamindari style mansion in the town, although he also has homes in Hyderabad.

Now a days Tanuku is becoming a good educational center, because there are nearly three engineering colleges, one B.Ed college,polytechnic two MCA and two masters degree colleges are in Tanuku and it surroundings so many people are calling it as educational city.

NH5(i.e Colcutta to Chennai) is passing through Tanuku.

You can find natural fresh air and lots of greenary there.

Recently Tanuku took one step forward by entering into software industry also.
