Life and works

Born in Rome on 3 November 1976, his career began in 2001 on winning a literary prize organized by the Holden School of Turin [1].

His books deal with personal and social issues: from fairy tales for children and fantasy novels, to hardness and violence in novels and short stories [2].

"Ordinary", his first novel, was published in 2004, denouncing homophobia and telling the difficulties of a young gay man [3], and was turned into a play for "The Special Project Theatre 2007/2008" [4] sponsored by the City of Rome and the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers [5].

In 2008 he published the illustrated fairy tale for children "The crystal Heart" (Il cristallo del cuore)[6].

Together with "The palace of light" (La reggia di luce) written in 2009, it has become a textbook for elementary schools [7].

2009 also saw the publishing of his second novel "What if Bambi were a Tranny?" (Se Bambi fosse trans?), dealing with gender identity and sexual orientation issues [8], and has raised much critical interest [9].

In 2010 two stories were published in two anthologies: "Damned" (Dannato), in Controcuore and "Laura Pausini", in Diva Mon Amour, part of the proceeds being donated to the fight against AIDS.

In 2011 his fantasy novel "The seed of hope" (Il seme della speranza) was published, a story about today's society, emphasizing the degenerative process caused by greed for power and money [10]. In the same year he wrote the story and screenplay for the short film "Santallegria"[11], on the subject of transsexuality [12].

In 2012 he published a collection of short stories "On the edge" (Sul ciglio del dirupo), with a preface by Jonathan Doria Pamphilj [13], sponsored by the city of Rome for its social value [14].

For his efforts against any form of discrimination, in 2012 he was co-opted by the honorary committee of the association Equality Italia, founded by Aurelio Mancuso, which aims to become "the first Italian lobby on civil rights"[15].

In May 2013 a totally rewritten version of "Ordinary" was published [16] and It was the first ARBook in Italy to use augmented reality [17]. This was followed, at the end of the year, by a comic version of the novel [18].

In December 2014 a bilingual version, Italian facing English, of "Sul ciglio del dirupo" was published for the American market with the title "On the Edge" [19]. Reali presented the book at NY University and the Italian Cultural Institute at the Italian Embassy in Washington and it was adopted at Georgetown University for the course of "Literary Theory and Criticism" [20].

In 2015, his novel "Se Bambi fosse trans?" will also be released in English for the American market with the title "What if Bambi were a Tranny?" [21], the film rights for which have already been optioned [22].
