The Demigod Diaries is collection of short stories relating to The Heroes of Olympus book series.[1]
Summary
The Demigod Diaries contains four new stories with character interviews, illustrations of Annabeth Chase, Percy Jackson, Jason Grace, Piper McLean, Leo Valdez and first ever seen pictures of Thalia Grace and Luke Castellan puzzles, and a quiz. The four stories include:
- Thalia's, Luke's, and Annabeth's adventures before the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series began
- A first-person narrative from Percy's viewpoint as he and Annabeth complete a task given by Hermes regarding his staff which happens a month after the end of The Last Olympian and before Percy went missing in The Lost Hero
- A story involving Jason, Leo, and Piper during their time spent at Camp Half-Blood between The Lost Hero and The Mark of Athena[2]
It also includes a short story by Riordan's son, Haley Riordan, revolving around one of the demigods who fought for Kronos during the Second Titan War and survived the battle in Manhattan.
Stories
- The Diary of Luke Castellan
This is a prequel to The Lightning Thief, told from Luke's point of view, in the days when he adventured with Thalia and met Annabeth. Several questions that fans have asked over the years will be answered in this story.
- Percy Jackson and the Staff of Hermes
An adventure with Percy and Annabeth, set in the days before Percy disappeared. Hermes is missing his staff stolen by a giant, and only Percy and Annabeth can help. And what about the snakes George and Martha? Oh no!
- Leo Valdez and the Quest for Buford
A story set at Camp Half-Blood, from Leo's point of view, with Piper and Jason guest-starring. The trio has only an hour to stop an explosion that could level Camp Half-Blood while being chased by psychotic maenads. Just another normal day at camp!
- Son of Magic
Riordan's own son Haley's writing debut, and his take on the world of Percy Jackson, which he inspired. You'll meet Alabaster, a powerful demigod son of Hecate who fought alongside Kronos in the Battle of Manhattan, and learn what he's up to after the war. What would it be like to be an outcast demigod? What sort of powers would a son of Hecate control? You'll find out!
