Song

"Call on Me" is an R&B song released as the first single from Janet Jackson's ninth studio album, 20 Years Old. The North American radio impact date was June 19 2006.

The music video for "Call on Me" began filming on June 28 in Los Angeles, directed by Hype Williams. [1] According to Jermaine Dupri, the shoot will take between five to six days and could end up being "the most expensive video in the past three years." [2] It will debut on July 26.

Song information

"Call on Me" is a mid-tempo song featuring rapper Nelly and samples the S.O.S. Band's "Tell Me If You Still Care." [3] "It's really just a record about when you need a friend, somebody you need to talk to, just call on a person. It's a friend record. It really is not a boyfriend/girlfriend record. The way Nelly and Janet are talking is more girlfriend/boyfriend, but it really goes out to friends", said producer Jermaine Dupri.[4]

Video information

The music video shoot for "Call on Me" took five days to complete (June 28-July 1, 2006), and was filmed inside a hanger at Santa Monica Airport, by director, Hype Williams. Janet has five different looks, including African, Asian, and Indian styles, with a mixture of elaborate hairstyles. The video is a mixture of live action and animation and was inspired by the Aesop's Fables children's tales. Jackson was keen on creating the types of videos she "used to do." The result, an all-out, exotic piece, which producer Jermaine Dupri announced would be, "the most "expensive video of the last three years." Jackson was joined by duet partner, Nelly on the set and is a featured player as well. The video will premiere on BET on July 28, 2006.
