Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat is an Indian historical drama show airing on Colors TV .[2] The serial is created and written by author and screenwriter Ashok Banker .[3][4][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13] It stars Manoj Joshi, Pallavi Subhash, Prinal Oberoi, Siddharth Nigam and Sameer Dharmadhikari.[14][15][16] The show is based on the life of Indian Emperor of Maurya Dynasty Ashoka (304–232 BCE).[17][18][19][20][4] The historical serial is produced by Contiloe Entertainment, and directed by Prasad Gavandi. The serial started on 2 February 2015 with 1 hour telecast duration for first 20 episodes.[21][22][23]

Cast

Plot summary

The serial is about Indian Emperor, Ashoka, grandson of Chandragupta Maurya. The story starts with young Ashoka (Siddharth Nigam) who is getting guidance from Chanakya(Manoj Joshi) . Bindusara is ruling the vast Mauryan Emprire while a game of occupying the empire is being played by Queen mother(Rajmata) Helena and the Queens of Bindusara- Charumitra and Noor Khorasan.

Production and promotion

The set was erected in Karjat. The show produced by Contiloe Entertainment.[35] A team of at least 500 people are working on this serial. Episodes were shot across Jaisalmer, Kerala, Mumbai's Film City and Karjat. A battle of Buzkashi ("goat dragging" sport) on horses was also recreated.[2] The cast and crew of Ashoka shot the battle sequence with over 300 horses in Jaisalmer.

Ashoka Samrat was promoted on the comedy show Comedy Nights with Kapil on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri in February 2015 [36]
