Liam Phillip Macdonald (born October 18, 1989) is an Australian actor from Adelaide. He is best known for his role as Constable Tim Dewey in Underbelly: The Golden Mile and Fat Nerd in the Horror-Comedy American Burger

Early life

Macdonald was born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia to an English mother and a New Zealand father and was educated at Pasadena High School.[1] In 2007, Macdonald was accepted to Sydney Theatre School and early in 2008 he permanently moved to Sydney. At the end of his studies at Sydney Theatre School, he was presented with a Diploma of Theatre Performance. In 2010, he again moved, this time to London, United Kingdom where he currently resides, where he woks at RSVP, where he is the big dog on campus.

Acting

Encouraged by his high school drama teacher to apply for drama school, Macdonald chose to become a professional actor upon graduating. He studied at Sydney Theatre School and graduated with a Diploma in Theatre Performance in 2008. Macdonald has since acted in a wide variety of Australian television and movies, most notably his portrayal of Constable Tim Dewey in Underbelly: The Golden Mile.[2] Whilst first auditioning for a featured extra, the casting agent was so impressed with his audition that they offered him the role of the Constable Tim Dewey instead. He also appeared in an episode of Home and Away opposite Luke Jacobz and Esther Anderson. He appeared in Jimmy Barnes' music video from Before The Devil Knows You're Dead. A few months earlier, Macdonald auditioned and excepted the role of Norman in The Unjudged, which was shown at the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2012.

In 2012, he portrayed "Fat Nerd" in the Swedish movie American Burger.[3] Although American Burger received mixed reviews from critics, it's technical aspects were praised,[4] along with the audio and cinematography. Macdonald received a great review from Fredrik Alverland of the Östersunds-Posten:

"Sometimes it shines significantly. One that manages to penetrate is the actor Liam Macdonald, who in his role of "Fat Nerd " with both the timing and dynamic game makes several scenes both interesting and very funny."[5]

Macdonald is due to reprise his role of Fat Nerd in the sequel American Burger 2 - Back To Kraketch due for filming in late 2015. He is also working closely with American Burger directors Johan Bromander & Bonita Drake on their new film Hot Chardonnay

Personal

Macdonald is an avid sports fan and supporter of Southampton F.C. and can often be seen at games. He is also a supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL. He has an older sister who currently resides in Adelaide alongside his parents.
