Fleshlight is a line of male sex toys designed to emulate the sensation of various sexual acts. The sex toy is used as a penis sleeve, and the line includes inserts with body orifice and canal designs to simulate the acts of vaginal, oral and anal sex. There is also a "non-descript" orifice, designed to draw less attention to the intimate product. The fleshlight gains its name from the flesh-like material used in its design, and from the plastic case that may remind a user of a flashlight. For proper use, the inserts are to be inserted into a case that comes with the product, with water based lubrication applied to the canal and penis.

Although the use of orifice designs is not in itself original or unique, the combination of the design, the plastic case, and the material of the insert, is unique due to a US Patent 5,807,360 granted in 1998.

Designs

The orifice, color of the case and insert, and internal texture of the insert can be selected from several choices. The case, which gives the fleshlight its name and is unique to this product, stabilizes the insert and provides control over the level of tightness and suction applied to the penis. Some inserts, such as the STU, are only available in the mocha color with a lady orifice.

Orifices

  • Lady: Designed to emulate vaginal sex.
  • Mouth: Designed to emulate oral sex.
  • Butt: Designed to emulate anal sex.
  • Discreet: A non-descript orifice.
  • Alien discontinued. reputed to have an appearance similar to Lady but with 3 clitori. only a handfull exists.

Inserts

The inserts have internal diameters of 13 mm (1/2 inch) unless otherwise stated, and can hold penises up to 26cm (10 inches) long.

  • Regular: No texture. Diameter of 19 mm (3/4 inch).
  • Super Tight: No texture.
  • Wonder Wave: Ribbed texture.
  • Speed Bump: Texture with raised bumps.
  • Super Ribbed: Densely ribbed texture.
  • STU (Stamina Training Unit): Marketed as a device to "train" the user on how to delay ejaculation. Similar in texture to Speed Bump.
  • Ultra Tight: No texture. Diameter of 6 mm (1/4 inch).

Colors

  • Pink

  • Clear (transparent, previously named Ice)
  • Discontinued colors include; Lavender, Chocolate and Gold.

Rivals

The main rival to the Fleshlight is the Tenga series of devices [1], originating from Japan. These feature a more sophisticated and complex internal structure, as well as a more artistic exterior - designed to look like high quality perfume bottles etc. The Tenga is produced in a range of 5 designs - each having a substantially different internal structure, and consequently a different feeling. One of these designs has two distinct internal passages each having entry points at opposite ends of the device - ostensibly to offer an alternative feeling without the need to purchase another of the designs - though the device has also become popular among homosexuals since it enables two men to use it simulaneously. The tenga series are not very well known about outside Japan, and have only recently been introduced into Europe, via Amsterdam.
