Yoichi Funado (born as Kenji Harada, 船户与一; February 8, 1944 — April 22, 2015) was an Japanese writer of adventure fiction.[1]

Biography

Funado was born as Kenji Harada on February 8, 1944.[2] During his student days, he was traveled to Alaska. He was graduated on Waseda University. Funado made his debut as an adventure novel writer in 1979.[1] After writing some prize-winning adventure novels, in 2000 he won the Naoki Prize for his book Niji no tani no gogatsu (English: May in the Valley of the Rainbow).[1][3] In 2014, he received another prize for a nine-volume novel on the history of Manchukuo.[1]

Death

Funado died of thymic cancer on April 22, 2015 in Suginami, Tokyo.
