He serves on expert working groups for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.[26][27][28][29] He is the executive director of Jubilee USA Network, a religious anti-poverty coalition.[30][31][32][33][34][35] As Jubilee USA's director, Eric comments frequently in the media on international economic issues, including the Greek Debt crisis[36][37][38][39][40][41], Argentina's debt dispute with hedge funds, debt relief campaigns for Nepal and Ebola-impacted West African nations, Pope Francis' commentary on global economic policy[42] and more.

Grenada Debt Restructuring

LeCompte played an important role in debt negotiations between Grenada and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In 2014, Caribbean religious leaders formed the Jubilee Caribbean Debt Network and advocated for debt relief and financial reforms in Grenada's debt restructuring. LeCompte participated in the process that formed the new network and in its negotiations with Grenada's government and the IMF. LeCompte published two op-eds about the process.

Religion and Finance

Jubilee USA takes its name from the biblical concept of Jubilee found in Leviticus 25:10. LeCompte advocates for a Biblically-inspired view of a just global financial system.[43] He comments regularly in the religious media.[44][45][46][47][48] Jubilee USA's steering committee and board include national Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim membership.
