A question. If anyone should ever decide to expand on the stub, he will need a technical term for a single stressed foot, since the metres of the rímur consist solely of these and trochees (with dactyls sometimes optional). The most basic metre of them all (ferskeytt) is, for instance:

I altered the stub for clarity and corrected a fact or two. Right now, this is more of a declaration of intent than anything else. When time permits, which should be in June, I plan on writing a "proper" article (no promises of polished prose, however), something along the lines of: Definition, metrical forms, poetical language, history and poets. I understand the motives of this inclusion, but there are thousands of superior quality examples of rimur in existence, this horrifically bad recording of an otherwise aurally offensive piece of a capella is a horrendous introduction, let alone example, of rimur. Keep. This is one of the oldest recordings of rímur and not only here because it's in the public domain - it's also a good example of this style of rímur chanting (note: all known historical recordings of rímur are a capella). --Sylgja (talk) 19:23, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please do keep, having listened to hours of Rimur from the Icelandic national archives, and from a field recordist I knew decades ago in Reykjavik, I find this sample to be strident and expressive. That said there is a wide variety in how Rimur was sung as recorded in the mid-20th century, and its a shame more of it isn't available. If there is any public domain repository or commercial anthology of Rimur please let the readers know.
