The County Hall is the head office of Derbyshire County Council located in Matlock, Derbyshire. Formerly a former hydrotherapy spa hotel, the building was purchased in 1955 by Derbyshire County Council to use as its headquarters.[1]

History

Built on Matlock Bank by John Smedley in 1853, it was the largest hydro in the town. Matlock had developed as a spa town after thermal springs were discovered.

See Smedley's_Hydro for further information.

Current function

County Hall is the main headquarters of Derbyshire County Council. It is home to many of the Council's departments.

The accommodation includes the main Council Chamber and several committee rooms.

County Hall is also marketed as a venue for conferences, weddings and other events. It boasts an in-house catering team, a large bar for refreshments and function suites.
