VoxelStorm Ltd, commonly referred to as VoxelStorm, is a British independent game development studio, video game publisher and music publisher. The company was founded by Eugene Hopkinson, and is based in England and Scotland.[1] VoxelStorm has developed and released a handful of games, most nostably AdvertCity and sphereFACE.[2]

VoxelStorm prides themselves on writing their game engines in-house[1][3], allowing them to have full control over what they are producing. The developer also puts a lot of emphasis on the importance of performance and compatibility for their games.[4] The developers have been praised as "enthusiastic" and "talented".[5]

Themes

VoxelStorm's games tend to focus on Retrofuturism[3] and cyberpunk themes,[6] with dark cynical humour.[7] The settings of their games are frequently procedurally generated.[8][9] The graphics in VoxelStorm games tend to be heavily stylized rather than realistic.[10]

Distribution

VoxelStorm makes their games available on Windows, Linux and OS X.
A common trend with VoxelStorm's games is that there is no installer - simply a single executable which can be downloaded and run at any time.

Game Jams

VoxelStorm has taken part in multiple Game jams. AdvertCity, a published VoxelStorm game, was originally started in a CyberPunk Game Jam[11]
GolfXTRM was made in the Fuck This Jam Game Jam.[9]
