Madison West High School is one of four comprehensive four-year high schools in Madison, Wisconsin. It was established in 1930. Its mascot is the "Reggie the Regent," a lion. Athletics compete in the area's Big Eight Conference.

Students
Madison West High School's students come form various social, economic, and cultural backgrounds; however, the majority are from business and professional families.[citation needed] West's student population is 39% non-white, compared to 10% for Madison as a whole. [1] Students at West come from Cherokee, Hamilton, and Wright Middle Schools.
Trivia
- Over 90% of all students take a World Language class annually; the offerings include Spanish, French, Japanese, German, and Latin.
- The rock group Jimmy Eat World filmed the music video for their song, "Work," at West High in 2005.
- The Madison West Boys Cross Country team, led by seniors Andrew Han, Robert Joynt, Eric Lewandowski, Benjamin Swimm, and David Yu, won the team's 1st State Cross Country Championship under head coach Tom Kaufman in 2005. The team placed 5th at the 2006 meet, led by Corey Watts (Sr.), William Bradley (Sr.), James Marsh (Sr.) Andrei Baiu (Jr.), Brett Kelly (Fr.), Scott Klasek (Jr.), and Birken Schimpf (Fr.).
- Since its inception in 1983, competing every year, the Madison West Science Olympiad team has placed no worse than second in the Wisconsin State Science Olympiad Tournament (Division C). The West team has placed first in Wisconsin for the past 7 years in a row, including at the most recent competition on April 22, 2006.
