Diesel locomotives
We're seeing a fair amount of edit warring on this page, specifically over the inclusion of a list of Diesel locomotives. I couldn't find reference to these locomotives using Google. Before this content is re-added you need to show sources that confirm this information is valid. Otherwise the additions appear to be vandalism and will likely be reverted again. If sources are provided, however, the inforamtion should be added to the article. Thanks, Gwernol 17:32, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- Again, folks, can someone please provide a source that shows that there is a book called "Mountain Diesels" by Christopher Awdry? It is not listed at Amazon.co.uk, nor does Google find any mention of it. Unless someone can show that this book exists and covers the claimed locomotives, then it cannot be added to Wikipedia. Thanks, Gwernol 11:28, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
Gwernol, you said before the CFR's diesels and other engines (the ones transferred from various rack railways to the CFR) are re-added on this page, I need to show sources that are confirmed this information is valid, right? The only source that's confirmed is that Christopher Awdry publish a book about these characters, that way, the additions won't be vandalism anymore. Felix 13:33, 18 July 2006
- What are you talking about? There is no confirmed source that Christopher Awdry is writing this book. In fact its almost certain from his website that he does not have the legal right to publish this book even if he accepted suggestions from readers. Please stop going on about this. Its not going to happen and you cannot add made up material to Wikipedia. Gwernol 20:57, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
By the way, I have not yet send the letter to Mr. Awdry. I do have a printer, but I've completely ran out of ink. So I have to wait for more to print out the Mountain Diesels and New Engines story and the pics for the illustrations. Felix 15:36, 18 July 2006
One more thing, according to the other engines (the ones transferred from various rack railways to the CFR), the title of the book by Mr. Awdry should be Mountain Diesels and New Engines, not just Mountain Diesels. Felix 15:38, 18 July 2006
Nonsense. Don't be ridiculous. How could Christopher resist my idea? I really hate having the additions reverted. Felix 18:12, 18 July 2006
It is super triple extra boring have only 8 steam engines on CFR. However, I think probably the letter I wrote to Christopher Awdry might help him understand that I want him to publish a book about the additions. Trust me as I say, okay? Felix 18:18, 18 July 2006.
- Christopher Awdry is not legally allowed to publish any railway books. It doesn't matter how much you want him to, he is not allowed to. It doesn't matter if he understands how much you want it or not, he cannot legally publish this book. I mention it three times since it is important that you don't get your hopes up. Gwernol 23:41, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
I think writing the letter would work. Felix 21:39, 19 July 2006
I like being the person of good news. I'll write a letter to Mr. Awdry. It might get him to publish that book. After all, I never like the other engines being removed or reverted and it really is boring having 8 steam locos on this page. Felix 21:43, 19 July 2006
Title
I believe this article should be re-titled. The railway's official name, according to The Island of Sodor is the Culdee Fell Railway, not the Culdee Fell Mountain Railway. HonestTom
- I agree. be bold and move it to the correct title. Gwernol 21:24, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and done this. It was a pretty big task given the many articles that link here. Gwernol 15:56, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Why did you re-title this article? Felix 12:14, 24 July 2006
- Per the conversation above. Gwernol 17:19, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Letter
Gwernol, would you like to write a letter to Christopher Awdry and Clive Spong:
Dear Christopher Awdry and Clive Spong
Felix would like you two to make a book called Mountain Diesels and New Engines. He keeps adding the other engines on the Culdee Fell Railway article so I had to remove them. You can make the book because when it is listed in Amazon.co.uk and makes Google find it in any mention, I'll re-add the other characters on the Culdee Fell Railway.
Sincerely, Gwernol
Felix 20:30, 3 July 2006
- For the record, my answer to this was "no". See User Talk:FelixCheng for more details. Gwernol 15:58, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Models
Are there models of the Snowdon Mountain Railway engines, coaches and trucks?
Felix 16:07, 6 July 2006
TV Series
Is the Culdee Fell Railway going to appear in Season 10? When will they appear? Felix 15:36, 13 July 2006
Probably never. As it stands right now, HIT doesn't have the rights to televise Railway Series stories, and it seems they also don't want to. So, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't think it's ever going to happen. --Patchmo 10:47, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
I guess I'm doomed. Are there models of the Snowdon Mountain Railway? Because I want to see the Culdee Fell Railway on television. Felix 12:40, 15 July 2006.
Guess what? Amos E. Wolfe had suggested me to purchase a digital camcorder to film the CFR. I chose the ERTL models for televising. All I need for televising was the releases of Ernest, Wilfred, Shane Dooiney, Alaric and Eric. Felix 12:53, 25 July 2006
Snowdon Mountain Railway No. 1 L.A.D.A.S.
Are there pictures of the Snowdon Mountain Railway's no. 1 locomotive, L.A.D.A.S., besides the one after the accident? Felix 14:43, 15 July 2006
Uploading Mountain Engines
Have I did a good job uploading the Mountain Engines book cover on this page? Felix 12:55, 17 July 2006
Yes it looks fine Penrithguy 01:27, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, Felix 12:08, 24 July 2006
Culdee Fell today
This is a question to anyone out there who has read C Awdry's book Sodor: Reading between the Lines I just wondered is the Culdee Fell Railway mentioned in it and does it have more than 8 steam engines which User:FelixCheng seems to believe is boring or an explanation of why the railway was only ever mentioned in one book of the Railway Series. Penrithguy 01:27, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
I hope writing to Christopher would make him understand why the other engines are reverted and publish the book. User:FelixCheng 12:07, 24 July 2006
I can confirm that Sodor: Reading Between the Lines does mention the Culdee Fell Railway, and that it has only EIGHT locomotives - ALL STEAM. 84.64.49.83 18:36, 14 August 2006 (UTC)MPorter23
The Snowdon Mountain Railway has diesels, does it? Felix 19:47, 14 August 2006
- Yes, Felix, the Snowdon Mountain Railway has diesel locomotives. That is not the same as the Culdee Fell Railway. We all agree that the CFR was based on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, but in a book that was written at a time when there were no diesels on the Railway. There is a difference between a fictional place being based on a real location, and actually being that place. Learn to tell the difference. --=# Amos E Wolfe talk #=- 08:35, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
I think the names Norman, Betty, Phyllis and George might fit perfectly for the diesels's counterparts. Yeah, that's right. Felix 9:16, 15 August 2006
- The whole point is the Snowdon diesels have no counterparts. As much as you may like to believe - there are no diesel locomotives on the Culdee Fell Railway. The only way it could happen would be if a new book was published, and you have already been told that is highly unlikely. --=# Amos E Wolfe talk #=- 14:45, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
I just dislike reverts. Felix 9:57, 15 August 2006
- Felix. if you stopped adding useless rubbish to the encyclipedia we woludnt have to revert it Penrithguy 21:39, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Contacting Amazon.co.uk
I contact Amazon.co.uk to sell the book Mountain Diesels and New Engines by Christopher Awdry, after they ask Christopher to publish it. Felix 16:05, 27 July 2006
- Felix, I am going to start removing these endless questions if you don't stop. Amazon have no power to ask Christopher Awdry to publish any book. Christopher Awdry isn't even a publisher, he's the writer. He doesn't have the rights to write any more of the Railway Series books. That's unlikely to change any time soon. Please, please give up this constant barrage of dreams that have no basis in reality. You are disrupting Wikipedia. Thanks, Gwernol 21:25, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
The Snowdon Mountain Railway has diesel working on the railway, according to the pics on the main article. The CFR should have diesels, too. However, if Christopher is a writer, I guess I'll be the illustrator (if I'm at the UK). Felix 15:32, 28 July 2006
Also, I could go to the UK to give Christopher the note, the story and the pics (for the illustrations) and help him make the book. I definitely hate having only 8 steam locos on the CFR. (Christopher writer, me illustrator.) Felix 15:35, 28 July 2006
For a start, the fact YOU hate having only eight steam locomotives is your own problem. Kicking and screaming about it will get you nowhere in your little quest. And I think Mr. Awdry would sooner laugh in your face if you were to pester him with your claims. You honestly believe that he'll agree to let you help him with the book when you have no experience of writing or authorship? Do you have a degree in Creative Writing? Have you ever published a book before in your life? I doubt that even merits an answer. You are simply wasting your time and energy, and you are the only one who is going to be hurt by it in the end, when you realise that you've wasted your life following an impossible goal. I hate to be so harsh, but you SERIOUSLY need to leave fantasyland behind and wake up to reality. 84.64.49.83 18:41, 14 August 2006 (UTC)MPorter23
I Contact HIT Entertainment
I contact the makers of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends at the HIT Entertainment website and asked them if they are going to introduce the CFR and the AR (AR stands for Arlesdale Railway) on TV. Felix 18:21, 30 July 2006
Dream on darling... 81.76.24.42 15:25, 12 August 2006 (UTC)MPorter23
CFR
Are you sure CFR stands for the Culdee Fell Railway? Felix 20:34, 13 August 2006
- It stands for Code of Federal Regulations, Cost and FReight, Case Fatality Rate, Council on Foreign Relations, Campaign Finance Reform and so forth (see [1]). In the context of this article however it stands for the Culdee Fell Railway. Gwernol 02:00, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Egmont
Does Egmont have the right to publish any Thomas books? Felix 17:14, 15 August 2006
ERTL
Since ERTL released Godred, Culdee and Lord Harry, how come they didn't release Ernest, Wilfred, Shane Dooiney, Alaric and Eric? Felix 15:12, 19 August 2006
They weren't released probably because they weren't the main characters in any stories - Culdee, Godred and Lord Harry were released because they were focused upon in the 4 stories in Mountain Engines. It probably would have cost more money to make the other models, and there's always the possibility that they wouldn't sell well. Patchmo 22:35, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
