Hedley is a Canadian pop-punk band that became prominent when its lead singer Jacob Hoggard placed third during the second season of the reality TV series Canadian Idol. The band originated from Abbotsford, British Columbia. The original members were Hoggard, Ryan Federau, Brandon (Derek) McKay, Kevin Giesbrecht and Kevin Heeres. They were named after the town of Hedley, British Columbia, after hearing that it was for sale for $346,000. While the idea of buying the town ran its course, the name remained. The original band bet Jacob $50 that he would make it to the Idol top 10. Following Hoggard's success on the series, Hedley was signed with Universal Music Canada and Chris Crippin, Dave Rosin and Tom Macdonald (formerly of the band Everything After) were brought in to replace the original band members. Hoggard remains the lead singer. Their debut single "On My Own" reached number one on the Canadian Singles Chart and the follow-up "Trip" peaked at number eleven.
Hedley has toured with Simple Plan, Yellowcard, and Matchbook Romance. They are currently on tour throughout the United States.
