Steve Hofstetter is a 26-year-old author, columnist and comedian, with material particularly pertaining to college life. He also hosted Four Quotas, which aired twice per week on Sirius Satellite Radio and is the current host of The National Lampoon Radio Sports Minute (Or So) which airs in over 70 different markets.[citation needed]

Named one of Two Drink Minimum magazine's best new faces of 2004 and a nominee for the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities Comedian of the Year, Hofstetter tours over 100 college campuses and dozens of clubs each year.

Hofstetter has written for outfits like Maxim, ESPN[citation needed] and Sports Illustrated for Kids. He's a current weekly columnist for Sports Illustrated,[citation needed] where his "Stand Up Guy" runs every Monday morning in Scorecard. While working on his undergraduate degree at Columbia University (he also attended the Jewish Theological Seminary of America), he wrote a weekly e-mail column called "Observational Humor," which he turned into his first book, relating to student life. The column still exists today with a new title, "Thinking Man". He also worked as a broadcaster for WKCR Sports, where he contributed both his humor and sports knowledge to Columbia athletics and general sports discussions.

Hofstetter has made a number of television appearances including Ed, Law and Order and Last Comic Standing. Most notably, he was one of the comedians featured on NBC's tribute to Johnny Carson.[citation needed]

Hofstetter's comedic style owes largely to the influence of earlier comedians such as Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, and Bill Hicks - a fact the comedian openly acknowledges. The insert to his first album, Cure For The Cable Guy, discusses his beliefs that comedy as an art form is an important forum for discussing serious social and political issues.[citation needed]

Hofstetter is known for his online popularity, with over half a million friends on community websites like MySpace and Facebook. Hofstetter answers most mail he gets both good and bad, and his website features an archive of hatemail, which has also made its way into his act.
