Notability of Jan goldstein

A tag has been placed on Jan goldstein requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Corvus cornixtalk 22:29, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of The Rain Desert

A tag has been placed on The Rain Desert requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. AfD nomination of The Rain Desert

I have nominated The Rain Desert, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Rain Desert. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. June 2016

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Desert Rain band, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 20:20, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising, as you did at Desert Rain band. Your edits only promote the band, and the links you add aren't reliable sources. In addition, you keep restoring a list of unacceptable external links, also serving as promotion. Given your previous (deleted) articles, you are here only to promote this band and the restaurant it plays in, co-owned by the bass player (who may well be you), as is clear from this "reference" as well. A tag has been placed on Desert Rain band, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. • Hi again. As I have replied on the AFD discussion, please do not feel you should avoid editing the article while the discussion is ongoing. Anything you can do to improve it, add additional reliable sources (news coverage, major music websites, etc) and so on will help the debate on whether the band meet the notability guidelines. KaisaL (talk) 00:06, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Alright; this sounds good, Kaisal. Thanks for the info and help. I understand that I need better references. I'm sure I can provide some, but it will take me some time and research. We have indeed been featured in articles over the years, but will need to track that stuff down with whatever band mates might have in in old boxes or whatever. I will supply this sort f information as quickly as it is fund. We did maintain a commercial website but let it go in the age of social media. I believe archive.org wayback machine captured a version of the commercial site so perhaps that would be anther usable source? At any doubt I will keep plugging along and hope fr the best. Thanks again! ~~~~
