This is the talkpage of XLinkBot (formerly SquelchBot), a bot designed to revert spamming, or other edits that introduce external links which do not comply with our external links guideline, or with the policy 'What wikipedia is not' (not a repository of links section).

Please leave new comments here by clicking this link

If your additions were reverted by XLinkBot, please take time to review our external links & spam guidelines, and take note that Wikipedia is not a repository of links, a directory, nor a place to promote your own work. If you feel your addition was within those policies and guidelines and are Reliable and Verifiable, and do not violate Copyright, you may undo the changes made by XLinkBot. Questions are welcome, however this talk page is for civil discussion and is not a complaints department.

MONTOKIA THANKS XLINKBOT FOR HELP

Reverting the wrong edit

You reverted an anon edit at Tokoroa and also left them a warning, in both cases saying the link they added to Facebook was the cause. The problem here is that the link they added was to http://www.waikatodhb.health.nz/about-us/rural-health/south-waikato-health-centre, which is appropriate for the content they were adding. The link you are objecting to was added on 2 April and was not removed by your edit. If your algorithm says "IF facebook link found THEN revert last edit" then it is manifestly inadequate. Please ask your creator to apologise to the anon you warned, or at least to provide a relevant warning, and consider getting an algorithm upgrade.-gadfium 01:06, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The problem here was purely technical. Between here and here there is this edit. In the first of the two versions, the page is broken and there was no facebook link, in the second the page was repaired and there was a facebook link. So the algorithm was OK, though the reason why the algorithm was triggered maybe flawed.
Anyway, I have reverted the bot, and subsequently removed all the inappropriate inline linking. --Dirk Beetstra T C 13:10, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2016 Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director Search Community Survey

The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has appointed a committee to lead the search for the foundation’s next Executive Director. One of our first tasks is to write the job description of the executive director position, and we are asking for input from the Wikimedia community. Please take a few minutes and complete this survey to help us better understand community and staff expectations for the Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director.

Thank you, The Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director Search Steering Committee via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:48, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Schreiber Ontario

Hi A section that I had added to the Schreiber, Ontario wikipage consisting of links to various newspaper articles from years gone by has been removed. Can you help me to understand why? Thanks.Jetson9207 (talk) 17:57, 6 June 2016 (UTC)Jetson9207[reply]

I saw you had an answer on your talkpage already for a similar question. The way of linking is inappropriate, we do not link to persons like that. I have cleaned the page further, there were more of these links that should not be linked like that, and external links which were not directly on the subject. --Dirk Beetstra T C 06:34, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of Ashwani Chopra in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chopra

To whomsoever it may concern

Please add the Name of Ashwani Chopra ( Born 1969) in the above mentioned link

As we feel he has done a lot for the game of cricket in Russian Federation. He is the President of Cricket Russia. It is only because of his efforts and passion for the game of cricket Russia became member of ICC ( International Cricket council) Below mentioned few links throw light on his works: http://rbth.com/sport/2014/04/29/cricket_in_russia_a_search_for_new_boundaries_36295.html http://in.rbth.com/arts/2014/03/13/russian_t20_team_to_play_in_goa_cricket_league_33711.html http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/Russia-heads-for-cricket-revolution/articleshow/31908709.cms http://www.eurosport.ru/cricket/story_sto4039450.shtml http://stumped4aduck.com/2013/07/29/qa-with-cricket-russia/ https://www.facebook.com/CRICKETRUSSIA http://www.aif.ru/sport/other/950160 https://www.facebook.com/ashwani.chopra http://indrus.in/articles/2010/09/16/cricket_in_russia04703.html http://www.themoscowtimes.com/arts_n_ideas/article/putting-local-cricket-on-map-for-world-russians/442195.html http://stumped4aduck.com/2013/07/29/a-russian-cricket-revolution/ Hope this information will help you. And please also advice on how we can create his page on Wikipedia. regards Management Cricket Russia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roniyash (talkcontribs) 14:26, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Roniyash: Well, if Ashwani Chopra is so notable, then you first need to write an article for him, after which he could be added to the disambiguation page you mention. Not the other way around. If/when you write that article, please be aware of the policies and guidelines on en.wikipedia. Seen your conflict of interest, I would suggest to write the article in the draft namespace (as Draft:Ashwani Chopra, and submit it to others to decide whether it is ready for inclusion. --Dirk Beetstra T C 11:54, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
