Max Mapes Ellis, born in 1887, died in 1953, was an American Ichthyologist. He was married to the American ichthyologist Marion Durbin Ellis (1887-1972).

Patronymi

The Knifefish apteronotus ellisi is named after Ellis. Armoured catfish Corydoras ellisae and tetrane Hyphessobrycon ellisae is not named after him, but after his wife, Marion Durbin Ellis. [1]
