He served two tours of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom.[citation needed] Higbie is the author of Enemies, Foreign & Domestic: A SEAL's Story. He has appeared on Fox News and CNN. Higbie unsuccessfully ran for Congress in Connecticut in 2014.[citation needed]
After Higbie's book Battle on the Home Front: A Navy SEAL's Mission to Save the American Dream[2] was published in 2012, his security clearance was downgraded from "top secret".[3] He signed out of the SEALs before the end of his term of duty with an honorable discharge.
