Other basic meaning (UK, Australia & NZ)

Tip (in the UK, Australia & New Zealand) is the common term for dump.--Tyranny Sue (talk) 01:32, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I propose the top part of the page be edited along the following lines:

The term Tip may refer to:
*A place for disposal of domestic waste; a dump (UK, Australia, New Zealand).
*A gratuity for services rendered (USA).

And also probably that the "Tip (gratuity)" page's URL include "(gratuity)" so that searches for "tip" go to the disambig page (I'm not sure how this is achieved though).

You have already showed your lack of experience with disambiguation as seen on the Talk: Tip (gratuity) page. It is simply ludicrous to list "Tip" as first and foremost a term for a "dump" in English. "Tip" as a gratuity is used throughout the English speaking world, and the other usage is minor throughout the English speaking world (and as an Anglophile, frankly I've never heard that term use and question its frequency of usage even in the countries you have mentioned). There is a difference between people being myopically American, and people simply looking to be offended by American-centered English speakers. Please stop looking for offense where none is intended. This is not benefitting WP or any article. You need to consider the world wide view of terms yourself, rather than accusing others of being unable to do so. The use of "tip" you mention is in the list, and there is no reason to prominently display it at the top.Njsustain (talk) 07:52, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You have shown your lack of balance in your whole approach to this discussion. Your responses have been consistently defensive and aggressive. And you've made your lack of awareness of usage in non-North American contexts crystal clear. Your ridiculously hypocritical 'instruction' to me to discuss this on the talk page when I had already proposed these changes many days beforehand, and you neglected to reply, as well as your nonsensical accusation of my edit being "New Zealand-centric" show your own highly reactive, childish approach. Moreover, you have given no solid reason for not including the very common UK/Australia/New Zealand usage at the top of the page. Merely proclaiming your opinion is not enough.--Tyranny Sue (talk) 08:07, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Miss, you are obviously immature and have an attitude problem. You can do whatever you like to this page if it is that important to you that you are willing to make wildly insulting comments on WP. Cheerios.Njsustain (talk) 08:21, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Njsustain, your silly attempt to condescend is laughable.--Tyranny Sue (talk) 06:24, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for proving my point. Good luck earning your M.R.S. degree, dear. Njsustain (talk) 23:07, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
