Bob Briscoe is Chief Researcher at the Networks Research Centre of BT and also a part-time PhD student at UCL.

Since switching to a career in research in 1994 he has published articles on Internet architecture, particularly on network economics, network security and structuring communications markets to encourage innovation. He is actively involved in fixing the Internet Architecture through the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards body, and through organisations such as the Communications Futures Programme (CFP) based at MIT and the Communications Research Network (CRN). Previously he was technical director of the Market Managed Multi-service Internet (M3I) collaboration.
