List of Uchu Sentai Kyuranger characters
Uchu Sentai Kyuranger (宇宙戦隊キュウレンジャー, Uchū Sentai Kyūrenjā) is a Japanese tokusatsu drama and the 41st in the Super Sentai series. Taking place in the distant future, the series follows nine individuals chosen by the constellations to fight Jark Matter, an evil organization who has taken over the galaxy.
Kyurangers
The Kyurangers are a team of alien warriors composed of humanoids, androids, and some with animal-like features whose powers derive from magical stones known as the Kyutama. They are part of the Rebellion (リベリオン, Riberion), an insurrection army fighting to liberate the universe from the evil Jark Matter syndicate. They travel around space in their spaceship known as the Orion (オリオン号, Orion-gō, an acronym for "Offensive Resistance Interstellar Orbiter of RebellioN"), whose design pays homage to the homonymous character from Greek mythology. Each Kyuranger carries a Seiza Blaster (セイザブラスター, Seiza Burasutā), a gauntlet-like sidearm they use to both transform and access the powers of their Kyutama, and a Kyu The Weapon (キューザウェポン, Kyū Za Wepon), which is composed of three separate parts that are each assembled into one of nine different modes according to the user's fighting style as their main weapon.
Lucky
Lucky (ラッキー, Rakkī) is a naïve young man with amazing luck and a strong will from Planet Luth (惑星ルース, Wakusei Rūsu) in the Leo System. He transforms into Shishi Red (シシレッド, Shishi Reddo).
As the Super Star (スーパースター, Sūpā Sutā) Shishi Red, Lucky's Kyu The Weapon is the Kyu Sword (キューソード, Kyū Sōdo). Unlike the others, his suit has no unique features.
Lucky is portrayed by Takumi Kizu (岐洲 匠, Kizu Takumi)
Stinger
Stinger (スティンガー, Sutingā) is a cool, mysterious man from the Scorpius System who was a mercenary for Jark Matter. He transforms into Sasori Orange (サソリオレンジ, Sasori Orenji).
As the Poison Star (ポイズンスター, Poizun Sutā) Sasori Orange, Stinger's Kyu The Weapon is the Kyu Spear (キュースピア, Kyū Supia). His suit differs from the others in that his scorpion-like tail, which is the only feature that distinguishes his appearance from a human, sticks out.
Stinger is portrayed by Yosuke Kishi (岸 洋佑, Kishi Yōsuke)
Garu
Garu (ガル) is a wolf-like alien with two different eye colors from the Lupus System who lost both his pride and his homeworld, including his entire clan, to Jark Matter. He speaks in a Hiroshima accent and ends his sentences with "Garu". He lived on Planet Jagjag (惑星ジャグジャグ, Wakusei Jagujagu) where refugees live, until Lucky helped him to recover from his trauma and move on to fight for his own life. While not the brightest or most patient, he is always reliable in battle. He transforms into Ookami Blue (オオカミブルー, Ōkami Burū).
As the Beast Star (ビーストスター, Bīsuto Sutā) Ookami Blue, Garu's Kyu The Weapon is the Kyu Claw (キュークロー, Kyū Kurō). His suit differs from the others in that it has claws on the boots and gloves while the fabric resembles wolf fur rather than spandex, complete with a furry collar.
Garu is voiced by Kazuya Nakai (中井 和哉, Nakai Kazuya).
Balance
Balance (バランス, Baransu) is a mechanical being with the ability to control machines from the Libra System who was manufactured about 300 years ago. Despite being a robot, he is smooth-talking and dramatic. He is partners with Naga Ray where they stole things from Jark Matter as thieves, as well as former bounty hunters for the love of money from Jack Matter, until they met Lucky and joined the Kyurangers upon realizing his partner Naga found an undying friendship with Lucky instead of tricking him for their own bounty, which changes Balance's mind as well. He transforms into Tenbin Gold (テンビンゴールド, Tenbin Gōrudo).
As the Trick Star (トリックスター, Torikku Sutā) Tenbin Gold, Balance's Kyu The Weapon is the Kyu Crossbow (キュークロスボウ, Kyū Kurosubō). His suit differs from the others in that it is more mechanical and resembles armor rather than spandex.
Balance is voiced by Yūki Ono (小野 友樹, Ono Yūki).
Champ
Champ (チャンプ, Chanpu) is a bull fighting robot from the Taurus System who was manufactured to fight against Jark Matter. Happy-go-lucky yet hot-blooded, he is incredibly loyal to his friends and is searching for the man that killed his creator. He transforms into Oushi Black (オウシブラック, Oushi Burakku).
As the Ring Star (リングスター, Ringu Sutā) Oushi Black, Champ's Kyu The Weapon is the Kyu Axe (キューアックス, Kyū Akkusu). His suit differs from the others in that it is bulkier and more mechanical in appearance, with the bull horn-like sides of his visor extended past his helmet.
Champ is voiced by Akio Ōtsuka (大塚 明夫, Ōtsuka Akio).
Naga Ray
Naga Ray (ナーガ・レイ, Nāga Rei) is a young man with the ability to paralyze his targets for a short time from the Ophiuchus System whose people have discarded emotion and live by a code of logic. Often partnering with Balance as bounty hunters, he is curious about emotions and studies them. Once he and Balance met the first five Kyurangers initially as their bounties, Naga quickly befriends Lucky instead of tricking them to be handed over to Jack Matter in the hopes of learning more about emotions as well as the path between good and evil. Because of Naga's decision to side with the forces of good like the Kyurangers thanks to Lucky, this changes Balance's mind as well. He transforms into Hebitsukai Silver (ヘビツカイシルバー, Hebitsukai Shirubā).
As the Silent Star (サイレントスター, Sairento Sutā) Hebitsukai Silver, Naga's Kyu The Weapon is the Kyu Sickle (キューシックル, Kyū Shikkuru). His suit differs from the others in that it has a snakeskin pattern on the sides.
Naga Ray is portrayed by Taiki Yamazaki (山崎 大輝, Yamazaki Taiki).
Hammy
Hammy (ハミィ, Hami) is a young ninja girl with the ability to turn invisible from the Chamaeleon System who has mastered the powerful ninja arts, passed down through the generations of her family. Due to her age, she lacks control of her emotions. She transforms into Chameleon Green (カメレオングリーン, Kamereon Gurīn).
As the Shinobi Star (シノビスター, Shinobi Sutā) Chameleon Green, Hammy's Kyu The Weapon is the Kyu Rapier (キューレイピア, Kyū Reipia). Her suit differs from the others in that her helmet has a chameleon's head facing upward, with the eyes popped out and the mouth acting as a visor.
Hammy is portrayed by Sakurako Okubo (大久保 桜子, Ōkubo Sakurako).
Raptor 283
Raptor 283 (ラプター283, Raputā Ni Hachi San) is an android with the ability to fly from the Aquila System who serves as Sho Ronpo's secretary and the pilot for the Orion. Serious and loyal, she is often prone to delusions. She transforms into Washi Pink (ワシピンク, Washi Pinku).
As the Speed Star (スピードスター, Supīdo Sutā) Washi Pink, Raptor's Kyu The Weapon is the Kyu Shot (キューショット, Kyū Shotto). Her suit differs from the others in that it has a pair of eagle wings in the back.
Raptor 283 is voiced by M·A·O, who previously played Luka Millfy/Gokai Yellow in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.
Spada
Spada (スパーダ, Supāda) is a man from the Dorado System who aims to become the best cook in the universe. Often serving as a parent figure to his teammates, he is reliable albeit not always sincere. He likes to make food or cooking-related metaphors which appears to be based on Italian cuisine, including some of his accent speech are those of Italian language. He transforms into Kajiki Yellow (カジキイエロー, Kajiki Ierō).
As the Food Mei-Star (フードマイスター, Fūdo Maisutā) Kajiki Yellow, Spada's Kyu The Weapon is the Kyu Slasher (キュースラッシャー, Kyū Surasshā). His suit differs from the others in that the front of his visor protrudes significantly to resemble a swordfish's nose.
Spada is portrayed by Tetsuji Sakakibara (榊原 徹士, Sakakibara Tetsuji).
Kyutama
The Kyutama (キュータマ, Kyūtama) are magical stones that give the Kyurangers the ability to transform, use their weapons and mecha, among other special properties. Each of them are numbered and contain a power associated with a different constellation.
- 01. Shishi Kyutama (シシキュータマ, Shishi Kyūtama): Lucky's personal Kyutama based on the Leo constellation which allows him to transform into Shishi Red and pilot the Shishi Voyager. When used in the Kyu Sword, he can perform the Regulus Impact (レグルスインパクト, Regurusu Inpakuto) finishing move.
- 02. Sasori Kyutama (サソリキュータマ, Sasori Kyūtama): Stinger's personal Kyutama based on the Scorpius constellation which allows him to transform into Sasori Orange and pilot the Sasori Voyager. When used in the Kyu Spear, he can perform a finishing move.
- 03. Ookami Kyutama (オオカミキュータマ, Ōkami Kyūtama): Garu's personal Kyutama based on the Lupus constellation which allows him to transform into Ookami Blue and pilot the Ookami Voyager. When used in the Kyu Claw, he can perform the Lupulus Impact (ルプルスインパクト, Rupurusu Inpakuto) finishing move.
- 04. Tenbin Kyutama (テンビンキュータマ, Tenbin Kyūtama): Balance's personal Kyutama based on the Libra constellation which allows him to transform into Tenbin Gold and pilot the Tenbin Voyager. When used in the Kyu Crossbow, he can perform the Libra Impact (リブラインパクト, Ribura Inpakuto) finishing move.
- 05. Oushi Kyutama (オウシキュータマ, Oushi Kyūtama): Champ's personal Kyutama based on the Taurus constellation which allows him to transform into Oushi Black and pilot the Oushi Voyager. When used in the Kyu Axe, he can perform the Aldebaran Impact (アルデバランインパクト, Arudebaran Inpakuto) finishing move.
- 06. Hebitsukai Kyutama (ヘビツカイキュータマ, Hebitsukai Kyūtama): Naga Ray's personal Kyutama based on the Ophiuchus constellation which allows him to transform into Hebitsukai Silver and pilot the Hebitsukai Voyager. When used in the Kyu Sickle, he can perform the Ophiuchus Impact (オフューカスインパクト, Ofyūkasu Inpakuto) finishing move.
- 07. Chameleon Kyutama (カメレオンキュータマ, Kamereon Kyūtama): Hammy's personal Kyutama based on the Chamaeleon constellation which allows her to transform into Chameleon Green and pilot the Chameleon Voyager. When used in the Kyu Rapier, she can perform the Hamillion Impact (ハミリオンインパクト, Hamirion Inpakuto) finishing move.
- 08. Washi Kyutama (ワシキュータマ, Washi Kyūtama): Raptor 283's personal Kyutama based on the Aquila constellation which allows her to transform into Washi Pink and pilot the Washi Voyager. When used in the Kyu Shot, she can perform a finishing move.
- 09. Kajiki Kyutama (カジキキュータマ, Kajiki Kyūtama): Spada's personal Kyutama based on the Dorado constellation which allows him to transform into Kajiki Yellow and pilot the Kajiki Voyager. When used in the Kyu Slasher, he can perform the Dorado Impact (ドラドインパクト, Dorado Inpakuto) finishing move.
- 25. Futago Kyutama (フタゴキュータマ, Futago Kyūtama): Based on the Gemini constellation. Once activated, it creates a duplicate of the Kyuranger using it.
Kyu Voyagers
The Kyu Voyagers (キュウボイジャー, Kyū Boijā) are the Kyurangers' personal mecha, each associated with one of the Kyutama. Each Kyu Voyager is normally stored within the Orion.
- Shishi Voyager (シシボイジャー, Shishi Boijā): Shishi Red's lion-themed Kyu Voyager.
- Sasori Voyager (サソリボイジャー, Sasori Boijā): Sasori Orange's scorpion-themed Kyu Voyager.
- Ookami Voyager (オオカミボイジャー, Ōkami Boijā): Ookami Blue's wolf-themed Kyu Voyager.
- Tenbin Voyager (テンビンボイジャー, Tenbin Boijā): Tenbin Gold's humanoid Kyu Voyager.
- Oushi Voyager (オウシボイジャー, Oushi Boijā): Oushi Black's bull-themed Kyu Voyager.
- Hebitsukai Voyager (ヘビツカイボイジャー, Hebitsukai Boijā): Hebitsukai Silver's humanoid Kyu Voyager.
- Chameleon Voyager (カメレオンボイジャー, Kamereon Boijā): Chameleon Green's chameleon-themed Kyu Voyager.
- Washi Voyager (ワシボイジャー, Washi Boijā): Washi Pink's eagle-themed Kyu Voyager.
- Kajiki Voyager (カジキボイジャー, Kajiki Boijā): Kajiki Yellow's swordfish-themed Kyu Voyager.
Kyurenoh
Kyurenoh (キュウレンオー, Kyūren'ō) is the Kyurangers' giant robot, composed of Shishi Voyager, who forms its head and torso, and four of the other eight original Kyu Voyagers, with each of them able to form either one of its arms or one of its legs. As each Kyu Voyager has a specific ability, its myriad of possible combinations gives the Kyurenoh much more flexibility in combat.
- Kyurenoh (01-03-05-07-09) is the original arrangement composed of the Shishi, Ookami, Oushi, Chameleon, and Kajiki Voyagers. Its finishing move is the Kyurenoh Star Break (キュウレンオースターブレイク, Kyūren'ō Sutā Bureiku).
- Kyurenoh (01-03-04-05-06) is an arrangement composed of the Shishi, Ookami, Tenbin, Oushi, and Hebitsukai Voyagers. Its finishing move is the Kyurenoh Trick Break (キュウレンオートリックブレイク, Kyūren'ō Torikku Bureiku).
Allies
Sho Ronpo
Sho Ronpo (ショウ・ロンポー, Shō Ronpō) is a dragon-like alien from the Draco System and the commander of the Kyurangers. He tries to give an imposing impression, but behaves more like an old man. Despite that, he always manages to keep his composure at the most dire situations and holds many secrets.
Sho Ronpo is voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya (神谷 浩史, Kamiya Hiroshi).
Minato Hoshi
Minato Hoshi (ホシ★ミナト, Hoshi Minato) is a famous interstellar artist known as the "Space King of Pop". He occasionally meets the Kyurangers during his travels.
Minato Hoshi is portrayed by Hiroya Matsumoto (松本 寛也, Matsumoto Hiroya), who previously played Tsubasa Ozu/Magi Yellow in Mahou Sentai Magiranger and Masato Jin/Beet Buster in Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters.
Jark Matter
The Space Shogunate Jark Matter (宇宙幕府ジャークマター, Uchū Bakufu Jāku Matā) is an organization of aliens who have conquered an untold number of planets, including Earth and the 88 constellations that surround it. They gather the planets' core energy called Planedium (プラネジューム, Puranejūmu) for certain purposes. The top members have an inrō-like Kyodainro (キョダインロウ, Kyodainrō) as proof of authority which is also used to enlarge. Their troops are composed of Indaves (インダベー, Indabē), masked combatants who are armed with swords and pilot the Moaidar (モアイダー, Moaidā) fighter craft, and Tsuyoindaves (ツヨインダベー, Tsuyoindabē), elite combatants and battle pseudo-lifeforms who lead the Indaves, are armed with clubs that can also be used as a gun, and have the ability to enlarge. The top members' ranks mirror those of the shogunates from Japan's Edo period.
Don Armage
Don Armage (ドン・アルマゲ, Don Arumage) is the highest authority, or Shogun (ショーグン, Shōgun), of Jark Matter. His face never appears as he always addresses his subordinates under a cloak through holograms.
Don Armage is voiced by Atsuki Tani (谷 昌樹, Tani Atsuki).
Eridron
Eridron (エリードロン, Erīdoron) is an elite member called Karo (カロー, Karō) who is in control of the Sagittarius System. The Karos are responsible for controlling the conquered star systems, and each Karo has a space battleship known as Big Moraimars (ビッグモライマーズ, Biggu Moraimāzu). He is armed with an arrow-shaped spear.
Eridron is voiced by Takaya Kuroda (黒田 崇矢, Kuroda Takaya).
Daikaans
The Daikaans (ダイカーン, Daikān) are commanders who are sent to conquer and control planets. Each Daikaan has a space battleship known as Moraimars (モライマーズ, Moraimāzu).
- Gamettsui (ガメッツイ) is the first of the Daikaans to appear in the series, and the Daikaan of Planet Jigama (惑星ジガマ, Wakusei Jigama) from Planet Tutan (ツタン星, Tsutan-sei) in the Lacerta System. He is armed with the Tutan Gun (ツタンガン, Tsutangan) handgun. Though defeated by Shishi Red, Tenbin Gold, and Hebitsukai Silver, Gamettsui is enlarged before being destroyed by Kyurenoh (01-03-04-05-06). Voiced by Hideo Ishikawa (石川 英郎, Ishikawa Hideo).
