Bicep is an electronic music duo from Belfast, Ireland, consisting of Andy Ferguson and Matt McBriar.[1][2]
History
Bicep was formed in 2009 as a production and DJing pair in London, UK. The duo, childhood friends,[3] created a blog called "Feel my Bicep" and posted lost and forgotten Disco, Chicago house, Detroit Techno and Italo edits. [4][5]
They released tracks on labels Throne Of Blood, Traveller Records and Mystery Meat before joining Will Saul's Aus Music and setting up their own label 'Feel my Bicep' in September 2012.[6] That year the pair were awarded Dj Mag's 'Best of British Breakthrough DJ' award. Also in 2012, a collaborative EP with Will Saul including tracks 'You' and 'Don't' hit number one in the Juno Charts.
In 2013, two of Bicep's EP releases, '$tripper', 'Vision of Love', as well as the track 'Mixxmaster 88' on Wolf Music's self-titled EP, all rose to number one in the Juno Charts. [citation needed]
'FMB004' EP hit number one in the Juno Charts in 2014. That year the pair moved into a new studio in Shoreditch.[7]
In 2015, the duo were broadcast live from the Boiler Room, and released a collaborative track, Dahlia, with Rory Hamilton.[8]
Live Performances
Bicep has performed at clubs in the United Kingdom[8] including XOYO[9] and Fabric, with a Feel My Bicep room host in July 2012 and residency at We Love Ibiza. They were regular guests at The Warehouse Project in Manchester. They have played at festivals around Europe, including Glastonbury, Bestival, Germany's Melt! and Croatia's Dimensions festival. In 2016 they performed at the Electric Island Festival in Toronto, Ontario.[10]
