Al Manar National School (commonly known as Al-Manar College or simply as Al-Manar), Template:Lang-ta is a national school in Handessa, Kandy. It was founded 26 March 1892. It is the oldest and first Muslim school established in Sri Lanka.[citation needed] [1] [2]

History

The Al Manar National School was founded in 1892 as Al Manaar Central College in Thalawathura. It was later moved to Boowelikada in 1929 then in 1964 it was shifted to its current location in Ambarapola. [3]

125 Years Anniversary

For 125th Anniversary (1892 - 2017), Al Manar management board, SDC, OBA, and OGA joined together and planned to do the 125 year celebration walk.
