Maartje Verhoef (September 5th, 1997) is a fashion model from Eindhoven, the Netherlands.[3][4][5]

Maartje was discovered when a photographer who worked at her dad's company asked her to replace a model who called in sick for a photoshoot. The photographer sent the pictures to Micha Models, which would become her mother agency.[6]

Maartje started her fashion career in September 2012, by opening the Prada Spring/Summer 2013 runway show in Milan, when she was just 15 years old.[7] She also fronted the Prada ad campaign that season, shot by Steven Meisel and alongside top models like Eva Herzigova, Sasha Pivovarova and Raquel Zimmerman.[8]. In 2013, she was photographed by Patrick Demarchelier for Interview Magazine's editorial on "the New Breed of Supermodels"[9]

Maartje became the top walker of the Spring/Summer 2014 season, when she walked 66 runway shows, the most of any model that season[10] Maartje has walked more than 380 runway shows since her 2012 debut, including shows for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Alexander Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, Vera Wang, Tom Ford, DKNY, Donna Karan, Prada, Jill Sander, Fendi, Armani, Max Mara, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Versace, Balenciaga, Dior, Viktor & Rolf, Hermès, Miu Miu, Valentino, Luis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Balmain, and Chanel. [11] She has opened runway shows for Prada, DKNY, Hermès, Jill Sander, Valentino, Donna Karan, and Armani. [12]

Maartje has starred in ad campaigns for Giorgio Armani, Dior, Prada, Calvin Klein, Salvatore Ferragamo, Moschino, Anna Sui, Alexander McQueen, Coach, Valentino, Gucci, Luis Vuitton and Giuseppe Zanotti[13]

She has been featured in editorials for many international Vogue editions, including American, British, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, German and Dutch Vogue.[14] Maartje has further been featured in editorials for W magazine, Numéro, Interview magazine, i-D magazine, Allure magazine and WSJ. She was on the cover of Vogue (German, Russian, Japanese and Dutch editions), Numéro, and WSJ.[15]

After closing the Victoria Beckham Spring/Summer 2015 show in New York, Beckham posted a picture of Maartje on her Instagram page with the caption: "Love Maartje!", which gained Maartje 45.000 followers on Instagram.[16] [17] In 2015, Maartje was also nominated for the Models.com Model of the Year Industry Award. [18] In September 2015, Maartje was named one of the 5 models to watch during New York Fashion Week by Marie Claire Magazine. [19] In February 2016, Maartje was named one of the most in-demand models of the Fall/Winter 2016 season by Harper's Bazaar [20], and one of the top 10 models of New York Fall/Winter 2016 fashion week by The Fashion Spot.
