Tonix Pharmaceuticals (Tonix Pharmaceuticals Holding Corp.) is a pharmaceutical company developing a pharmacological therapy for the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), with initial development in patients with military-related PTSD.[1][2][3] Known as TNX-102 SL, this therapy is a formulation of cyclobenzaprine designed to be suitable for long-term use.[4][5] Based on data from a Phase 2 trial in military-related PTSD, TNX-102 SL was granted Breakthrough Therapy designation by the U.S. FDA on 19 December 2016 and had entered Phase 3 development as of 29 March 2017.[1][6][7] Tonix is also developing a smallpox vaccine based on synthesis of an ancestral virus strain that may have improved safety compared to existing stockpiled smallpox vaccines.[8][9][10][11][12][13]

History

Founded in 2007 and based in New York City, the company was listed on the NASDAQ exchange in 2013 under the symbol TNXP.[14]
