Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection is a Portugal-based, international brand of hotels and resorts in Portugal and Brazil. What was formerly known as Dom Pedro Hotels Group, is now Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection, following the purchase of the 5 championship golf courses[1][2] in VilamouraAlgarve, Portugal. The Dom Pedro Brand is immersed within Lisbon's major musical, cultural and sports events and has had an active role in bringing attention to Lisbon as a tourist destination[3].

Overview

As of 2017, the Dom Pedro Group has a series of Hotels in Portugal and Brazil, namely, Dom Pedro Lisboa at the metropolitan capital of Portugal, Dom Pedro Vilamoura, Dom Pedro Marina and Dom Pedro Portobelo located in Vilamoura, Algarve, Dom Pedro Lagos in the Meia Praia beach in Lagos, Algarve, Dom Pedro Madeira and Dom Pedro Garajau in the Madeira archipelago SouthWest of Continental Portugal, and finally Dom Pedro Laguna in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil.

In 2017 Dom Pedro Group re-branded themselves as Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection following the purchase of the Victoria Golf Course, The Old Course Golf Club, Millenium Golf Course, Pinhal Golf Course and Laguna Golf Course[4][5] in Vilamoura, Algarve[6][7]

History

In 1968, an Italian tourist, Pietro Saviotti, when discovering Madeira, the Portuguese Archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean, west of continental Portugal, promptly felt enamoured with the views of Machico Bay, sprouting an ambition to open a hotel business in the area. This wish was eventually and ultimately fulfilled by his son, Stefano Saviotti, who opened the 4-star Dom Pedro Madeira (formerly Dom Pedro Baía) in 1973, then promptly assuming control of the group in 1973 and making their first investments in Algarve tourism, with the opening of Dom Pedro Vilamoura (formerly Dom Pedro Golf) in 1976.[8]

In 1998, the group launched their first five-star hotel, Dom Pedro Lisboa (formerly Dom Pedro Palace) which has become known for their regular hosting of international celebrities.

Their first foreign venture began with the construction of Dom Pedro Laguna, the first five-star hotel and 18 hole golf complex ″Aquiraz Riviera Golf Course" in Ceará Eco-Resort "Aquiraz-Riviera" in Brazil.

Now the group possesses 56 years experience in the development and management of a wide range of hotels, business networks and multi-lingual service. They have brought innovative products onto the Portuguese market, one example being the first to offer a combined hotel and golf package deal in the Algarve as well as the first to implement the service concept of buffet to Portugal in the beginning of the 1970s.

In 2016, in partnership with Keith Cousins, Dom Pedro hotels & Golf Collection purchased 5 championship golf courses of Vilamoura – Algarve, Portugal, to restate leadership in the golf market, also re-branding the hotels to better reflect their location.

In 2017, Dom Pedro Vilamoura hotel received a complete refurbishment due to business decisions regarding the rebranding of the group within the same year.

The group also sponsors a competitive sailing team, accomplished in its field, and other companies in the sports and leisure market in Portugal.
