Toby J. Heytens is an American attorney and law professor who is currently serving as the Solicitor General of Virginia.

After graduating from law school, Heytens was a clerk for then-Chief Judge Edward R. Becker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit He was Bristow Fellow in the Office of the United States Solicitor General and then clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. He next worked at O’Melveny & Myers in Washington, D.C.

Heytens has served as a law professor, first at Cornell Law School, and then at the University of Virginia School of Law.[1]

On January 9, 2018, Heytens was named Solicitor General of Virginia.[2] He serves under Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring, who was reelected in 2017.
