Adelphi University is a private coeducational institute of higher education, with its main campus located in Garden City, in Nassau County, New York. The college was founded in 1896 in Brooklyn, New York, and takes its name from its location on Adlephi Street in Brooklyn, where it is related to the Adelphi Academy, a private secondary school. The Garden City campus was established in 1929. Today the university has campuses in New York City, Poughkeepsie, and Hauppauge.
