I've been editing on Wikipedia for a few months, and have a few observations.

There is far too much effort wasted on non-article pages.
The biggest threat to the encyclopedia's integrity is not vandalism, serious though that be, but cranks and POV pushers. Trolls can be ignored.
I've found, while working on James Tiptree Jr, that it is easy to recruit new editors from other sites with an interest in a particular subject.
I have no burning ambition to start new articles; as Jimbo said, quality, not quantity, should be the current focus.
