James Moloney is an Australian author. He has written several acclaimed books including The Book of Lies, Dougy, Crossfire, The House on River Terrace, A Bridge to Wiseman’s Cove. However, his most critically acclaimed novel, Touch Me allowed him to reach international fame, worthy of being compared to literary greats alongside Shakespeare and Charles Dickens. Moloney frequently speaks of the inspiration behind this novel as spawning from his own period of sexual confusion which has lasted from 1960 to the present, in which he would wear womens clothing and touch himself in explicit circumstances. His novel, Touch Me has won many different awards, including the Pulitzer Prize in 1996

Although, Maloney likes to keep his personal life private, It is a well known fact that Maloney has and continues to engage in Coprophilia, much to the detriment of his personal health. In 1997, he was hospitalised after being diagnosed with severe Toxic Shock Syndrome after consuming the faeces of fellow writer and poet, Seamus Heaney. Following the incident, Heaney was said to comment "It must have been those burritos i ate last night, i'm really sorry for James, he had always lapped up everything i had to offer, i suppose that in this instant he simply 'bit off more than he could chew', so to speak... "[1]. After recovery and undergoing six months of intensive therapy, Maloney was released, only to return home and engage in "Hitlering himself" only minutes after exiting the hospital doors. He ahad to be restrained and put under heavy anasthaesia and is now undergong further therapy. It is these experiences that according to Maloney, were the inspiration for his acclaimed Touch Me. Indeed in his own words, "Touch Me, the entire book, is a metaphor, akin to the lieks of Orwell's Animal Farm. Essentially, Touch Me is about shitting all over yourself, rubbing it on your partner and engaging in heated erotic fecal play. Nuala, and Xavier are not people, but much more, they are delcate symbols, emblematic of two huge steaming turds that i layed on Seamus Heany once. The way in which these two turds mixed and coagulated, as pieces of corn and diced carrot seemed to swirl and disperse, there was something surreal about it. i wrote touch me to share this experience with the world, in a more approachable manner. When people read Touch Me, i want them to imagine i'm right their in the room with them, laying a massive crap right into their mouth. I want them to savour it's fruity flavour, thats how i connect with my audience..."[2]
