Kotwan is a village in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is the site where according to Hinduism, Lord Krishna spent his childhood days and is one of the main places in the Braj Bhoomi region.[2] The Village is about 100 km away from Agra, LanLoard as well as great warrior of Bharatpur State SITARAM's birthplace in the KOTWAN.

Origin of village

The name of Kotwan is from Rupa's Son KATARMAL and Dahgoan was developed by his another brother MOMAL. His father (RUPA) came from Dujana Gram near Dehli.

This Place is in the border of the Mathura District and Bharatpur District. Bharatpur District Kaman is west towards this place. It is near to the Haryana-UP Border.

Kotwan is considered to be a holy place for Vaisnavism tradition of Hinduism. It is a related to worship of Braj and the area includes places like Kotwan that are associated with Krishna. Millions of devotees of Radha Krishna visit these places of pilgrimage every year and participate in a number of festivals. The center of Krishna-worship has been for a long time Brajbhumi, the district of Mathura that embraces also Vrindavana, Govardhana, and Gokula, associated with Krishna from the time immemorial. Many millions of Krishna bhaktas visit these places every year and participate in the numerous festivals that re-enact divine scenes from Krishna's life on Earth, of which were spent in those very places.

History

KOTWAN has an ancient past, associated with Hindu culture and history, and is an important Hindu pilgrimage site since long.

Kotwan is a village in Nandgoan block in Mathura Distict of Uttar Pradesh state, India. It is belongs to the Maharaj Sitaram, he was the great Commander in Cheif as well as landloard of Rewari pargana of Bharatpur State. His relationship with Royal Bharatpur family.

As per the writter, Th. Ganga Singh Bharatpur Itihas page no. 220 wrote that Sitaram Dide's (Kotwan) daughter Rani Achhan Kaur married with Maharaj Surajmal's sons Raja Ratan Singh, Rani jal kaur married with Raja Ranjeet Singh and another daughter with Rav nawal Singh as per social customs.

As per the writter, Th. Deshraj in JAAT Itihas in page no. 643 to 646. It is said that in an assualt upon Garhi Harsaru, Surajmal's elephant urged against the huge wooden gate of the fort turned back exhausted and unsuccessful. then Sardar Sitaram, the Jaat Axas, seeing their rushed toward with an axe and hewed down the gate with great intrepidity.

An another assualt upon Delhi attack with Maharaj Jawahar Singh, Sitaram received Ajmeri Gate Rasala (Front) in battle against Najeeb Khan in 1764-1767, that front is unbeatable. At the end of battle Mharaj Jawahar Singh gives the name of that front "SITARAM FRONT" or SITARAM BAZAR. and also gives one piece of winning wealth of Delhi Attack.

As per the writter, Captain Dilip Singh Ahlawat in book "Jaat Veero ka Itihas" said that there are many efficient and rapid warlike warrior with mharaj Surjmal support such as Balram Ballabhgarh, Kasiram Hodal, Ram Kishan Banchari, Th. Bhagwan Singh Sinisini, Th. Maghsingh Bachgarhi, great warrior Sitaram From Kotwan.

As per the writter, K. R. Kanungo as well as Th. Ganga Singh in page no. 27 of Bharatpur Itihas seen that Najaf Khan and his army arrive from east marg to south of Chhata and Sahar. he left back the Kotwan, but he was not win. Then Najaf Khan attack the Kotwan for safe own. Kotwan lanloard Sitaram was the father in law of Rav Nawal Singh. After the 19 days battle Sitaram left the Fort with his family and Najaf Khan occupied many wealth.

As per the writer, K. R. Kanungo in Book "JAATO KA ITIHAS" in page no. 157 KOTWAN is a Historical place situated on Agra Trunk Road. He wrote it that i saw Disreputable Fort in own Historical Visit such as Place, Court and see a big Pool which is near of the Fort. Thereafter meet with SITARAMJI's Descendant CHAUDHARY JORAWAR SINGH JAGIRDAR (LANDLORD) family and many other neighbours. And sharing with us the old memory of BARSANA battle & 19 days battle with NAJAF KHAN in Kotwan and proudly says more assualt to MAHARAJ SURAJMAL and own ancestor Great Warrior SITARAMJI.
