Potential merger
This article may be an appropriate candidate for a merger with Mennonite. --RobertsBiology (talk) 19:40, 19 July 2015 (UTC) https://themennonite.org/daily-news/scholars-address-nazi-influence-on-mennonites/
"Mennonite Participation in Nazi Leadership
Mennonites served in a wide variety of positions under the Third Reich, including mayors, governors, guards, police, and bureaucratic staff that oversaw the killing of Jews. For example, Mennonites served as guards for the Stutthof concentration camp. One was SS-Unterscharführer Kurt Janzen, who served as Blockführer and leader of the labor detachment. The other, Heinz Löwen, was one of the few guards actually tried after the war. Another likely Mennonite named Schröder was one of 20 SS guards notorious for their brutal treatment of 1,000 Jewish women forced to build dykes and were killed when they tired. (See Rempel 2012)" https://lisaschirch.wordpress.com/2018/ ... a-summary/
"….in fact, the men pictured here belonged to Waffen-SS cavalry units composed mostly of Mennonites". "The photo was taken at a rally where Mennonite women and children performed for the visiting head of the SS, Heinrich Himmler". I came in peace and was attacked for caring for the poor and needy. Nothing changes in Mennonite culture. Thankfully Australian Mennonites do not have this history. https://anabaptisthistorians.org/2018/0 ... holocaust/
"Jews out, Germans in Neufeldt described Nazi collaboration by the people of Deutsch Wymyschle, Poland, a mostly Mennonite town of 250 to 400 people, neighbor to the town of Gabin, with a population of 5,700, about half of them Jews. After the Nazi invasion of Sept. 1, 1939, Jews were rounded up and their property confiscated. Mennonites from Deutsch Wy-mysch¬le took advantage of the Nazi desire to move the Jews out and the Germans in. They accepted the invitation to claim houses and businesses confiscated from the Jews. Among them were Neu¬feldt’s grandparents, Peter and Frieda Ratzlaff." http://mennoworld.org/2018/03/19/news/s ... holocaust/
"To Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Berlin: The Conference of East and West Prussian Mennonites, assembled today in Tiegenhagen, Free State of Danzig, feels deep gratitude for the powerful revival that God has given our nation through your energy, and promises joyful cooperation in the upbuilding of our Fatherland through the power of the Gospel, faithful to the motto of our forefathers: No other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid which is Jesus Christ.”[6] (Emphasis and italics mine.) I’m sure Hitler didn’t take time to answer every telegram that he received, but this one he replied to personally: For your loyalty and your readiness to cooperate in the upbuilding of the German nation, expressed in your letter to me, I express my sincere thanks. —Adolf Hitler" http://www.ephrataministries.org/remnan ... -nazis.a5w
