Suba Veerapandian is the author of Karunchattai Tamilar a bimonthly magazine. He has written around 21 books in the field of Tamil literature, politics and history. He was born in karaikudi. His father Karaikudi Subbiah was an MLA. Director S. P. Muthuraman was his elder brother.[1]

Education and work

Despite being a physics graduate, he joined Pachaiyappa's College in Chennai to do his masters in Tamil Literature due to his love for Tamil language. He passed out of Madras University with a gold medal in Tamil Literature in 1973. His classmates in Pachaiyappa's included Tamil poet Vairamuthu. After completing his education, he worked as a Tamil professor in a college in Chennai for 21 years. After that, he got voluntary retirement. He was instrumental in spreading the quote "Fallen due to Aryan-ism, Arisen due to Dravidian-ism and Victory due to Tamil-ism" ("ஆரியத்தால் வீழ்ந்தோம், திராவிடத்தால் எழுந்தோம், தமிழியத்தால் வெல்வோம்") and with this quote as his base he launched Dravidar Iyyaka Tamilar Peravai[2] in 2007 and is serving as its General Secretary. It is an organisation which works for the welfare of the global Tamil people.
