Source Technologies

Please explain what in the Source Technologies' page does not qualify it as a WP:CORP or WP:Sofware. Wikipedia says that "A company or corporation is notable if it meets any of the following criteria: The company or corporation has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the company itself." Source Technologies meets this qualification...do you need proof of these publications?

Everything within the article is fact so I am not clear of the reasons why it is being considered for deletion. Please explain and I will improve the article and provide more information if necessary.

I have removed the deletion proposal in the meantime. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adelemoore (talkcontribs) 18:14, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes, documenting notability would help prevent this article from being deleted. I was borderline about whether to tag this article until I noted that your edits are consistent with a single purpose account. You may want to evaluate your contributions in light of the "How not to be a spammer" guidelines at Wikipedia:Spam. JonHarder 20:34, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: Webaroo

Hello. I've removed the deletion tag that you added to Webaroo, as it appears to be notable, with a magazine article written about the software. Thanks --Nick123 (t/c) 22:33, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

No problem. I'll clean up some of the excess linking. JonHarder 21:20, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Reverts

IMO you're going a bit revert-crazy, reverting everything I add to the list of monsters in Power Rangers, claiming that I am a "serial vandal". An AOL IP is a proxy IP, meaning that millions of users share the same IP, and of course, some will be vandals. But I don't think that you should revert everything posted by an AOL user because some AOL users are vandals. Think about this next time you revert the Power Rangers monsters page. Yes, Dragonzord really DID get trapped in an exploding web, if you don't believe me, check YouTube. Or better yet, here is a link to a picture.

http://www.rangercentral.com/episodes/ep023/eppic21.jpg

Also, the Mantis could not have lost his honor, he had no honor, he said so himself. After Trini asked about the Mantis's honor when he summoned putties to fight Trini the Mantis replied "I'm one of Rita's monsters, I have no honor".

Yes, and I accept my responsibility for the error. Every other edit by that IP has been vandalism and I assumed that all edits were by the same person. I'm not sure why you call it an AOL address. It is assigned to a Verizon user in PA which would typically be the same user each time. A couple of things would help that user. Sign up for an account, which will establish a record of good faith edits and avoid the problems of anonymous IPs. Citing sources will enable others to verify edits and ensure they are not original research. Happy editing! JonHarder 12:40, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Augusoft

I seconded your prod of Augusoft. Reviewing the relevance of that article has been on my list of things to do for a while. I think it would be helpful to expand the reason beyond "nn-corp" because new editors may not know that notation. Maybe at the very least a link to WP:CORP. Just a thought. JonHarder 19:04, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. (I only bumped it from speedy to prod.) I've expanded the prod reason; feel free to edit it. Quarl (talk) 2006-10-08 19:40Z

Menno Article

Hi Jon,

I saw you translated "my" Menno Article into English. I am proud because I think it is the best that I had written in Wikipedia (took me at least 3 days). Greetings from Berlin, Andreas Hüner ... ;-)I know it must have been "have written (yet)" ...

Thanks for the note. Your English is much better than my German and translating that and several other related articles was hard work for me, but quicker than doing the research myself! JonHarder 15:58, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Your translation is really good, I'll see if I can proof it further, but so far it looks very accurate. If you want, go over my translation of -> Exclusive Mandate and see if you can find anything that needs to be fixed. (Patrick 00:18, 13 October 2006 (UTC))
It looks great. I did a pass at copyediting to streamline and simplify some wording. JonHarder 03:30, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Camtasia Studio

Thanks for untagging this article as advertisement. (Patrick 07:39, 12 October 2006 (UTC))

It's probably an article I had prodded as non-notable earlier and was subsequently deleted, but it doesn't look bad now and there are links from other articles, implying some notability. You will want to check WP:SOFTWARE to try to meet as many of the criteria there as possible. JonHarder 12:09, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Ok, thanks I'll review the article based on those requirements when I get a chance (Patrick 00:16, 13 October 2006 (UTC))

Content Management systems article

Why do you delete the Ever-Team entry in the list of notable content management systems. Ever-Team is in the ECM Gartner Magic Quadrant 2006 and should be in this page. ??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.254.49.47 (talkcontribs) 22:39, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

I removed it because the anonymous editor, 82.254.49.47 (talk · contribs), which is assigned to ProXad in Paris, is likely to be closely involved with the Ever-Team product and probably not neutral. It would be better for other editors to determine if such an entry is appropriate. JonHarder 02:08, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Citracyde

Thanks for: first your forebearance, then your patience and now your kindness and support for a newbie. Citracyde is having a really rough, unlucky day! --A. B. 04:00, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the note and encouragement. Yesterday was a bad day. Spammers kept hitting my watched articles and I suppose I got a little too vigilant with respect to this case. Today has been better. Mainly a copyvio case, although one of the worst I've seen. The editor had been doing it for months. JonHarder 00:55, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: request of expertise

The companies I have wrote about are computer hardware companies, that I come across when reading news websites centered around computer hardware. TriGem/TG Sambo, I am not familiar with, I haven't heard those names. It seems to be the same company. There is an "in english" link on the website, but it appears to be broken. -- Frap 14:51, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

EtherCAT

Jon,

on Oct 20 an email was sent to permissions(at)wikimedia(dot)org which confirmed that the copyright owner release the material for use in wikipedia. This email was backed by the managing director of HMS Industrial Networks on the same day. As you requested, I also put a note on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:EtherCAT. I would appreciate if you could restore the EtherCAT article at your earliest convenience. Thanks. Fieldbusguy 16:31, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

An administrator will do that eventually. They are probably backlogged with requests. I don't have the rights to do it myself. JonHarder 16:40, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the peer review comments on Minnesota. Feel free to edit Minnesota, there is still lots to do. Also consider joining Wikipedia:WikiProject_Minnesota. -Ravedave (help name my baby) 04:56, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for digging out the fact on their name. I'd left {{cn}} as a reminder to me, so you saved me a job! --Steve 01:37, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

It seemed kind of implausible and I wasn't expecting to find anything. Google is your friend. JonHarder 02:24, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

ArtGen

Jon

I am merely adding a resource, clearly an external link, with related information and services. While this is a for profit company the information on their site and the service they provide in RT-PCR is credible and valid for inclusion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artgen (talkcontribs) 16:48, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

(Replied on talk page). Note: Artgen (talk · contribs) is almost certainly related to anonymous user 155.104.37.17 (talk · contribs) who together have been dumping ArtGen spam on numerous articles. JonHarder 17:07, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Jon,

This is not spam, these are relevant external links placed in only the appropriate topics. Note the inclusion of AppliedBiosystems.com, www.gene-quantification.info, www.ocimumbio.com, and www.Affymetrix.com ALL are similar resources to Applied Real-Time Genetics, LLC (www.artgenlabs.com).

Bill

All inappropriate links will eventually come out. With so many organizations spamming Wikipedia, it is difficult for volunteer editors to keep up. JonHarder 17:37, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  • AppliedBiosystems - most edits look legit; removed one as part of a long unnecessary list.
  • gene-quantification was all link spam added by a single anonymous editor, 141.40.217.71 (talk · contribs)
  • ocimumbio.com likely spam, and removed from the one article it was in.
  • Affymetrix edits all appear legit. Some links replace with internal links.
JonHarder 01:57, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Jon,

This is not a matter of spam. In an open discussion here, appliedbiosystems.com and artgenlabs.com are two worthy resources in the field of Q-PCR and RT-PCR. They have an excellent library of resource documents related to preparing cDNA and purified RNA samples for testing. Their services are groundbreaking and I would argue vehemently for the inclusion of both in several wiki topics.

Bill

(Please sign posts with ~~~~.) It is spam. The only interest you have shown in Wikipedia is to add ArtGen spam. This is known as a single purpose account. You started right on the heals of spam complaints to anonymous editor 155.104.37.17 who also added link after link to artgen. I can find no record of any other editor finding the artgen site valuable enough to include as a link. JonHarder 17:52, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

I would prefer to let you cool off (per wiki) and take this up with another individual. Please visit the site and examine the collection of RT-PCR documents there. What a fantastic resource! ArtGen 17:57, 31 October 2006

I see two other editors picked up where I left off cleaning up after you. Other editors also objected to the same additions by 155.104.37.17. Adding links to Wikipedia is easy to do, but really not all that helpful. Wikipedia is not a link repository. You need to evaluate your purpose here: is it to promote artgen or is it to build an encyclopedia? JonHarder 18:50, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Insulin Resistance and Adiponectin

Hi JonHarder,

Thank you for leaving me a message after the modifications that you made on these pages. I will change the sentences that I used (not use copyright work) and I will submit it back again.

You also sent me a spam warning. I'm a member since 2004 and it's the first time that I received such warning. I think that it could be a misundertanding in my contribution; I will try to follow more stricly the Wikipedia guidelines that I found linked on your page. Best regards. Eridanis 01:16, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Your edits all seem to revolve around including links to cmeon* sites. That is spamming. Add content, not links to promote a set of related websites. JonHarder 01:20, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your answer. Eridanis 02:19, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

C-Reactive Protein

Hi,

You remove CRPHealth.com from the link section of the "c-reactive protein" page. This link has been added as the same time than a huge chunk of information of the page added on June 9 2006 at 16:39. Maybe the link was in the wrong section (external links instead of references)... Also, from what I saw, it is NOT a commercial website (they does not sell anything, the content is free - after a registration, I agree but still, free - and have a patient and healthcare providers informational portal). Can I have your advice on the manner? Thanks. Eridanis 02:16, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

First, the material you added to c-reactive protein was copied from crphealth and I have removed it, adding a note to your talk page. That makes at least three articles you have added paragraphs copied from websites. CRPHealth is related to the cmeon* sites—it's hosted on the same server—and as above, adding numerous links to the same site is spamming. So far your edits consisting of adding links to sites that are all on the same server and copying text from those sites into articles. Neither of those activities are helpful in building a encyclopedia. JonHarder 22:57, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

surgeryimages

Hi

I readded my site to one of the articles you removed it from(cornea transplant) since a quite extinguished member(AED) said it was appropriate in the discussion, also i just wanted to note that in the sex reassignment surgery article my link wasn't added by me ,but from another person(although anonimously). In all the others articles I will not readd it again.By the way in all the other articles I added relevant links from my site since their discussion seemed to be quite dead(I had previously asked for approval to add my site and noone replied),so i added my site and it case it would be removed I wouldn't add it again — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nfostiras (talkcontribs) 22:16, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

OK, I see that. No problem. I appears that the site was blacklisted at one time. What led up to that? JonHarder 22:31, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

About 2 and a half months ago i had i added my site to the same places you had it removed it from, the links stayed there for more than one and a half month since they were useful(although i hadn't asked permission)containing photo material hard to find anywhere else, but i also tried to add (persistantly since i thought a bot or something kept deleting it )one link to an acl reconstruction article ,there was a misunderstaing with the member which reported the link as blatant spam with no relevant content,I explained him the situation, and then he reasked my site to get unbanned so my I got my site once again unbanned As i told you before i wont add any links anymore,I will wait for discussion approval --Nfostiras 08:41, 3 November 2006 (UTC)nfostiras

Thanks

I just wanted to thank you for the Barnstar you gave me. Admittedly, I took a pretty Gordian Knot-esque approach to solving the problem but I suppose it couldn't be helped. Thanks again! Axem Titanium 23:03, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

That article had been listed at the top of the "to do" list of WP:WPSPAM for quite some time. One down, many more to go! Thanks again. JonHarder 23:09, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Copyvio issue

No trouble at all, and thanks for letting me know :). I wasn't sure if speedy was qualified for if there was indeed some assertion of permission that just wasn't verifiable enough. Seraphimblade 23:26, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

You have a good point. The admins will sort that out, and as in the past, politely let me know if I was too bold. I was also going to put a redundant db-repost on it, but it looks like that should be used for articles that went through more formal deletion discussion. After almost a year, I'm still learning! JonHarder 23:32, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Kensington Technology Group

I removed the {{mergeto}} template from the Kensington Technology Group page, and then saw in the history that it was placed there by you. Sorry about that. My humble personal opinion is that it could probably stand on its own with some expansion, but I should not have removed the template without talking with you first. I respect your opinion, and if you decided to put it back on, I certainly wouldn't have a problem with that. Sorry again,  Satori Son 01:13, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

It's not problem. My primary interest was in getting Category:Computer hardware companies cleaned up. I put a mergeto tag on several notable stubs, prodded what I thought wouldn't be contested and sharpened the category of most of the others. On another pass I'll merge those that still have the tag. Again, not a problem and as you no doubt have seen, I've already recatted that article. JonHarder 03:29, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the response. I do appreciate your gracious response to critique. JonHarder 05:11, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi Jon

Hi there,

Thanks for your assistance. The reason I have put my link there the third time because I was not sure who really has removed my link. Was that another user or was it really Wikipedia. I had added a perticular link on Digital camera and that was working fine for last few months. I have added one affialiate link yesterday and that was the time I think my site was identified as an affiliate website which it is not. I have removed the affiliate advertisement and I just wish to inform you that is not a personal website or any affialire website. Please give me your views as I think that the website www.compare-camera.com serves as a content based website which gives only information to the user about digital cameras.

I will make the changes on my website and will make sure it qualifies in future.

Looking forward for your response.

Regards,

Chris Carter — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.23.100.173 (talkcontribs) 06:57, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

It would be helpful for you to read the extern links and what Wikipedia is not guidelines. The website you mention is not particularly informative or helpful for Wikipedia. It provides no sources and appears to be original research. A quick glance at the site reveals spelling and grammar errors. Wikipedia doesn't need more external links; it is better to spend time improving the article text. JonHarder 23:42, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
