Ilirian Sejdi Gjata (Albanian pronunciation: [ilirian sejdi ɟjata]; born 28 January 2000) is an Albanian American footballer who plays as a midfielder for Kosovan club KF 2 Korriku.
Early life
Gjata was born in Bronx, New York where his Kosovar Albanian parents emigrated, his mother, Arta, emigrated with her family in 1979 and his father, Driton, who escaped Kosovo as a war refugee in 1992, went to England and then emigrated to New York in 1998.
Club career
FC Mowtown
Gjata joined FC Mowtown, previously known as "Clarkstown SC Eagles"[1] during the 2016 season, throughout the season Gjata played with the reserve team and often got called up for the first team. He learned from his teammates Bljedi Bardic and Andreas Chronis.
KF Llapi
After finishing his junior year from Quest To Learn High School in New York, Gjata received a trial from KF Llapi and after two weeks the team confirmed the signing with Gjata on 1 July 2017. Throughout the season he played with the U19 Academy while also training with the first team. [2]
KF 2 Korriku
After the 2017-18 season with KF Llapi, on 26 July 2018, Gjata joined KF 2 Korriku during the summer transfer season. He made his first team debut with the club on 27 July 2018. [3]
