Calvary Christian School (CCS) is a Christian, Independent Baptist private school located in King, North Carolina that was founded in 1982.

History

Academics

Pre-School thru Kindergarten

Students here receive knowledge and develop skills in Bible, Numbers, Phonics, Reading, Writing, Music Appreciation, Social Studies, Science and Art. Also, Bible is taught every day including chapels every week. [1]

Elementary (1st – 5th)

1st-5th grades build upon what was learned in Kindergarten along with adding more subjects which include: poetry, penmanship, physical education, etc. Starting at this point, after-school help classes are available and private tutoring is offered on a limited basis. [2]

Middle & High School

Middle and high school are specifically managed so that students feel comfortable while staff are there to insure maximum development in all academic. Four courses of senior high study are available that lead to the following diplomas:

  • College Prep with Honors: College prep track student completing at least 7 honors classes from 9-12 grades maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA.
  • College Prep Diploma: Satisfies the strict University of North Carolina requirements.
  • General Diploma: Satisfies requirements for entrance into Christian or community colleges.
  • Exceptional Track Diploma: For students with certain disabilities. May satisfy requirements for provisional entrance into some fields of study in community colleges. [3]

CCS has an honors program which offers "...our highest level of academic challenge for college preparation." Honors is an option that can be added to nearly every class such as algebra and science. During there sophomore years, students who have shown exceptional Christian testimony, scholarship, character, service, and leadership, can be inducted into the American Christian Honor Society, or ACHS.

Student Life

Athletics

The basis of the athletics at CCS focus on three words: "Christian student athlete". Sports include: Girls Soccer (Var), Boys Soccer (JV & Var), Girls Volleyball (JV & Var), Cheerleading (1st-2nd, 3rd-6th, and Varsity), Girls Basketball (JV & Var), Boys Basketball (JV & Var), and Baseball. [4]

Rules and Regulations

CCS has a no-bullying policy that is strictly enforced via a demerit system, the purpose of which is to "record on a student’s record for the purpose of limiting continued misconduct, given for continued neglect of responsibilities or for more serious offenses." [5]
