Idris is a Welsh and Arabic (usually masculine) given name, also given as surname, they are spelt identically, however, they are unrelated.
Welsh (Cymraeg): "Ardent lord", from udd (lord, prince) + ris (ardent, enthusiastic, impulsive).[1] It lends its name to the mountain Cadair Idris (Idris' Chair).
Arabic (إدريس) Idris, the Islamic prophet mentioned in the Qur'an, usually identified with Enoch in the Bible. The original meaning may be "interpreter."[2] The name Idris means studious, smart, or to learn in Arabic. The prophet Idris in the Islamic religion was a tailor and is believed to be the first person to write. Lastly, He was apparently an astrologer who studied stars
