Kozo Iizuka (飯塚 幸三, Iizuka Kozo[1], IPA: [iizuka ko(d)zoː]; born 1931) is a Japanese engineer served as Director of the AIST[2] and President of International Measurement Confederation[3] and Human Frontier Science Program[3] and other.

Life

In 1931, Iizuka Kozo was born in Nakano in Tokyo. [4]He graduated from the Tokyo University Faculty of Engineering Department of Applied Physics. He became Doctor of Engineering in 1972.[5]

In 2015, He awarded Order of the Sacred Treasure for Achievement of International Trade and Industry administrative affairs.[1]

Car Accident

In April 19, 2019, when he driving Prius, He struck pedestrians at a crosswalk. and he ignored the traffic light and collided with the garbage truck at the intersection. Two people(a girl and her mother) were killed and eight people injured in this accident. It is reported that it is an accident due to wrong stepping on the accelerator and brake.[6][7] Also, according to news, he was advised by a doctor not to drive a car. He is not arrested now because he is a "Jyokyu-Kokumin" (上級国民) who has a Medal given by Japanese government.
