Gyakuten Saiban 3 is an adventure game developed by Capcom for the Game Boy Advance video game console. It is the third game in the Gyakuten Saiban series (also known as the Phoenix Wright series), and preceeds Gyakuten Saiban 4 for the Nintendo DS. At present, it is the only released Gyakuten Saiban game that Capcom has no localisation plans announced. A moderator on the Capcom Forums has stated that this game being translated depends heavily on sales and preorders of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All.[1]

New Characters
Souryuu Kaminogi/Godot - A defense attourney who became Mia Fey's lover, and was thought to be dead (poisoned) six months before the first case of the game by Chinami Miyanagi. However, as the game progress, it was revealed that he was only in a coma, though he was blinded, thus needed a special visor to see, and his hair had turned color from brown to white. Once Kaminogi was released from hospital, Redd White had already killed Mia. Souryuu blamed Phoenix for not being able to protect her, which led him to become a prosecutor. in order to oppose Phoenix Souryuu is known to drink up to 17 cups of coffee a day.
Chinami Miyanagi - The murderer in the first and fourth case in the game and former nominal girlfriend of Phoenix Wright, Chinami appears to be fragile and innocent, which she uses to charm everyone on to her side. She was brought up by her father, whom she hated, which led to the events of the fourth case in the game, where she plotted to steal her father's prized diamond along with Michiru Onamida. However, Chinami's step-sister, Yuuki Miyanagi, saw the couple as they were executing the plot. Chinami threw herself into the Godou River along with the diamond. Thinking Onamida had pushed Chinami into the river, Yuuki had Onamida arrested for Chinami's murder. Chinami's body wasn't found, as she was found at the river bank located at Hazakurain, where she was nursed back to health by birth sister Ayame.
During the trial of Yuuki Miyanagi's murder (case 4 of the game), Chinami claimed to be a witness under the pseudonym "Satoko Mukui". During the trial, Mia Fey and Souryuu Kaminogi tried to implicate Chinami as the murderer, she killed the defendant (indirectly), Michiru Onamida, who drank a vial of poison which Chinami gave to him earlier and said was a "proof of their love".
As a result, the case collapsed and Chinami was free. However, Souryuu, determined to put her behind bars, began to persue her and managed to talk to her six months after the trial. However, Chinami poisoned Souryuu's coffee, which appeared to have killed him. Chinami was questioned for the crime but was released due to lack of evidence. The reason for the lack of evidence was because she had hid the evidence of her crime with the clueless Phoenix, whom she met in the court after the murder took place.
Chinami is called Dolores Willow in the fan translation.

The story of Gyakuten Saiban 3 takes place with cases which precede the first Gyakuten Saiban and after Gyakuten Saiban 2.[citation needed]
Turnabout Memories
The first case of the game takes place 5 years before the events of Gyakuten Saiban 3 (three years before Gyakuten Saiban), when Phoenix Wright is still a university student. The player character is switched to Mia Fey. Phoenix is accused of murdering a fellow college student by the name of Kikuzou Nonda. The cause of death is electrocution. Chinami Miyanagi, Phoenix's girlfriend at the time, stole the Cold-Killer Z medicine that Phoenix was taking for his cold. Using poison stolen from the medical lab the night before the incident, she poisoned the medicine in hopes that Phoenix would take it and die, so that she could get the evidence for a case that happened 6 months ago and trash it. She was about to go give it to him until she saw Kikuzou talking to Phoenix warning him about the fate that lay ahead. Phoenix, not believing him, struck Kikuzou, who hit the ground on top of his umbrella, breaking it. Phoenix panicked and ran away. At the same time, the shock from the altercation caused a nearby weakened high-voltage wire to snap. Kikuzou got up and Chinami Miyanagi, seeing the wire dangling, killed him to keep him quiet. A couple of minutes later, Phoenix came back to find Kikuzou dead. When he saw the medical students coming out of the lab to investigate the cause of the power outage, he fled and was thus accused for Kikuzou's murder.
At the end of the trial, it is shown how Prosecutor Winston Payne lost his hair.
The Stolen Turnabout

The second case in this game brings the player back to current time, where Phoenix is given the unenviable task of defending a man who claims to be guilty of stealing the Kyoko's Urn (from the second case in the second game). Things are more complicated than they first seem.
Introduces Godot, the coffee-swilling philosopher in the prosecutor's chair.
Recipe for Turnabout
The third case takes place after a failed trial made by Phoenix, or so we would believe, in reality a criminal posed as Phoenix to ensure the defendant would be declared guilty. Phoenix must attempt to defend Maggey Byrde from the charge of murder, once again, and find the imposter from the previous trial.

This case takes the player back to Mia Fey's first case. Also, this case features a familiar young prosecutor as well as a completely unfamiliar judge.

Fan translation
A fan translation of the game to English was begun. The translator has successfully translated all of case one and part of case four. A translation patch for case one was released in January 2006. However, the project is currently on hiatus awaiting news of an official localization. [2]
