Ariel Waldman is an American NASA advisor, artist, Antarctic explorer, youtuber and author based in San Francisco. She is the global director of the Science Hack Day[1], for which she has been awarded grants from the Sloan Foundation. She is also part of the external council for NIAC[2].

In 2008 she created Spacehack.org, a directory of ways for anyone to participate in space exploration[3]. As such, she has participated as a member of the Committee on Human Spaceflight (part of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine) to review the long-term direction of the US human spaceflight program and make recommendations how to make it sustainable over several decades[4].

In 2013, Waldman received an honor from the White House for being a Champion of Change in citizen science[2]. As a YouTuber, she includes in her channel[5] videos about her 2018 journey to Antarctica to research extremophiles, as well space exploration and science popularisation.
