  • Comment: He may well be notable but there are still no independent sources for anything, the education and career section still fails verification with no supporting sources for the content? Theroadislong (talk) 07:13, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

It is true I don’t have evidence for example that he was at Oxford as an undergraduate or he was born Devon other that what it says in is cv so I can remove items like this. We do have evidence through published papers that he was a graduate at oxford. I’ll remove material I don’t have specific secondary evidence for. Will that be satisfactory? I’m trying my best to figure what you want but comments are (and not trying to be rude) a little vague. Rhodydog (talk) 20:28, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Comment: All the sources are to his own books, Wikipedia requires in-depth coverage in independent reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 19:55, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

Athel Cornish-Bowden (3 April 1943 –) is a British biochemist who obtained his education at Oxford in Britain, became a lecturer and senior lecturer at the University of Birmingham and finally Directeur de Recherche (Émérite), Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Marseilles, France. Cornish-Bowden is most well known for his numerous textbooks, particularly those on enzyme kinetics and his work on metabolic control analysis.

Education and Career

Athel Cornish-Bowden worked on pepsin catalysis.[1]. This began a life long pursuit of work on enzyme catalysis[2] and in later years work on the control of metabolism[3]. More recently he has also turned his attention to work related to the origin and nature of life[4].He worked with [5] with Daniel E. Koshland Jr..

Research

Cornish-Bowden has authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers and nine textbooks on topics related to enzyme kinetics, mathematics and historical perspectives in science. Some of his textbooks, particularly those on enzyme kinetics, have been an authoritative source for students and researchers for many decades.

Cornish-Bowden's research can be divided into three primary areas: Enzyme kinetics, metabolic control and the origin of life. The following lists some of the topics and selected references to the work carried out and published by Cornish-Bowden:

Mechanisms of Pepsin Catalysis[6][7][8]

Binding of ligands to Proteins[9][10][11][12]

Kinetics of nitrite reductase[13][14][15]

Kinetics of nitrate reductase[16]

The evolution of macromolecules[17][18]

Properties of multienzyme systems[19][20][21][22][23]

The theory of self-organizing systems[24][25][26][27][28]

His current interests include the definition of life and the capacity for life to self-organize.

Cornish-Bowden is most well known for his introduction of the direct-linear plot for estimating enzyme parameters[29], his work on Hexokinase evolution and kinetics[30], and his insight into the control and regulation of metabolism[31]

A large number of secondary sources have cited Cornish-Bowden's work including:
