- Comment: You can use an asterisk symbol to designate which books made the NYT #1 Best-seller as with List of works by Danielle Steel. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:07, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: Please remove the "award-winning" "best-seller" peacock verbiage in the lead sentence. The biography needs to describe what books she wrote. The book listings should be combined with the Bibliography. Goodreads is not a reliable source and its Awards are not notable (Audie Award is okay). Needs more information on Keeland's biography and career from independent news sources. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:05, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
Vi Keeland is an American author associated with Montlake Romance[1]. Her books have become best-sellers on New York Times and USA Today listings,[2] have been translated worldwide,[3][4] and have appeared on the German[5], Brazilian, [6]and US bestseller lists. [7] Fourteen of her novels have appeared on the New York Times bestseller list, and Bossman placed at #1 on both The New York Times[8] and Wall Street Journal[9] bestseller lists. Her short story, Dry Spell, was turned into a short movie by Passionflix.[10].
Writing career
In January 2013, Keeland published her first novel First Thing I See. Though she never intended on publishing it, she was inspired to take a chance after being displaced from her home due to damage from Hurricane Sandy[11] In April, she published Belong to You, a contemporary romance novel in her Cole series about a dumped fiancée named Sydney who goes on her honeymoon, and has a fling with Jack. Courtney P. of the blog Optimistic Mommy likened the book to Fifty Shades of Grey.[12] The book entered the USA Today bestsellers list on July 18, 2013.[13] In June, she published a follow-up novel Made for You.[14]
Her MMA Fighter series features standalone stories of relationships between women and male MMA fighters. She published Worth the Fight on September 29, 2013, about a female attorney who meets and falls in love with an MMA fighter.[15] It made the USA Today [16] and The New York Times bestsellers list.[17] Her second book, Worth the Chance, published in February 17, 2014, involves a journalist intern who has to interview an MMA fighter whom she had a relationship with back in high school.[18] Worth the Chance made the USA Today bestsellers list.[19] The third book, Worth Forgiving, published in August 20, 2014, involves a woman who owns a chain of MMA gyms falling for one of the fighters there. It too reached the USA Today bestsellers list.[20]
In January 2016 she published The Baller, a book about a football player and a woman journalist who interviews him. The Baller debuted at #3 on The New York Times[21] and the Wall Street Journal bestseller lists[22]. It also spent four weeks on the USA Today bestseller list[23]. In 2016 Keeland published Bossman, a book about a boss who falls for one of his employees. The book debuted at #1 on The New York Times[24] and the Wall Street Journal[25] bestseller lists and spent 6 weeks on the USA Today bestseller list[26].
Other standalone novels include Throb (2015)[27], Beat (2015)[28], Left Behind (2014)[29], Egomaniac (2017), [30][31], Beautiful Mistake (2017),[32] Sex, Not Love (2018),[33][34] The Naked Truth (2018),[35] and We Shouldn't (2019)[36].
Keeland has been collaborating with Penelope Ward on a number of standalone contemporary romance novels. Cocky Bastard (2015), was about a cross-country driver who gets in a romance with a guy who fixed her flat tire. The book was listed on USA Today and New York Times best-sellers.[37][38] The title of the book started a trend among romance novelists to include the word "cocky" in their titles.[39] They also wrote Stuck-Up Suit (2016),[40] Playboy Pilot (2016),[41][42] Mister Moneybags (2017), [43][44] British Bedmate (2017),[45] Hate Notes (2018), Rebel Heir (2018), [46][47] and Rebel Heart (2018).[48][49]
Her short story, Dry Spell, was published on September 28, 2018, and was adapted into a short film directed by Traci Hays, released on Passionflix.[10]
Personal life and Career
Keeland is married to a man whom she has known since they were in grade school. They have three children and live in Long Island.[50] Before writing, Vi Keeland was an attorney and specialized in the area of tax law.[11]
