Khoudia Diop. also known as the Melanin Goddess[1][2] (born 31 December 1996) is a Senegalese fashion model[1][2][3] and actress.[4]

Early life

Diop was teased as a child because of her dark skin tone, but after moving to Paris, France at age 15, she was repeatedly approached with the suggestion that she become a model.[5] She nicknamed herself the "Melanin Goddess" (alluding her dark black skin) to express pride and self-love in her appearance.[6][1][2]

Career

In 2016 she moved to New York City for college and was featured in a campaign for The Colored Girl Project, which led to her becoming popular on Instagram.[5][7][8][9] After being part of this project, she went from 300 to 350,000 followers on Instagram in only days.[10] In 2017 she appeared in an advertising campaign for French cosmetics brand Make Up For Ever.[11]
